OT- Danica Patrick

  • IMO, Danica doesn't suck or she would have never been given the opportunity to be where she is. That said, she is living off being a woman and not being a good NASCAR driver. If she could atleast win a race at some point then she would earn more respect. If you did a blind resume test, nobody would confuse hers as being from a good driver. She wants people to stop viewing her as a woman driver and only as a driver but then she is given a pass for her less than stellar résumé because she is a woman. Just my 2 cents.

Oh, and Dale jr sucks too and is where he is cuz of who his dad was, not from accomplishments.

  • She's attractive and intense and that attracts money and money buys equipment. She has a big advantage as a result but her driving ability will be revealed in the next 3 months. Daytona and Talladega are the easiest tracks to drive. That's why they have a history of producing surprise winners. Stay tuned.

And if she's any kind of competitor, she's not happy about setting two records because she's a women. She should be upset because she wasn't even close to winning the race. But, I could see her being proud of finally not crashing

    Two things:

    (1) She was close to winning. In that I mean she was running 3rd on the last lap. That is being close to winning. She never got shuffled back. She didn't make the right moves at the end to give her a better shot of winning. Of course this is a nature of who would work with her.

    (2) She came into the ESPN set and was upset because she didn't win and because she went from 3rd to 8th on that last corner.

She seems to me to be very competative. I don't think that should be in question.

We will see going forward how good a driver she is. She is full time this year and will have a chance to gel with a team. I honestly don't know. But I will wait to see and won't get inot the hate fest that seems to come when talking about her ala Tim Tebow.

  • I wasn't meaning to say she's not a great competitor. The last poster stated that she set two records because she was a female and I was pointing out that those records shouldn't mean anything to her right now

    Shane8773

  • LOL at the posters ITT saying Danica doesn't suck. She finished 8th!!! Yeah, well, Trevor Bayne has won the freaking race and we see how much he sucks. She has tits, and can sell t-shirts, and that's why she has the ride. Ryan Newman is a far better driver and he is pretty much out of a ride. Why? Spornsorship. If she would have finished 8th at Darlington, Bristol, Martinsville, Dover, or one of the more difficult tracks the argument would have been much more valid. All she did at Daytona was take the fatsest car there and not wreck it or win.

She was VERY close to winning the race going into the LAST lap. Soooo

And she finished 8th! Get over it, she blows. As the guy above said, she had one of the best cars at an easier track and couldn't win. She has tits therefore gets exposure. If you want to route for a female driver, I'd pick Johanna long. At least she dated Aj

That is fine that you think she "blows". And I don't know how many people on here "root" for her. I don't, but I don't root against her either. (and for the record I don't route for her either).

But then again people are taking issue with your completely and totally incorrect statement that she wasn't even close to winning the race. That is totaly wrong.

Since it is clear you can't stand her and will even through out incorrect statements to back up your argument, it appears you are the one that needs to "get over it".

  • 8th place = close... Tell that to Lsu fans about there season last year. So close to winning it all

It is ok to admit you overstepped when you said she was not even close to winning.

When you enter turn 3 on the last lap in 3rd you are close to winning that race. She got shuffled back. She finished 8th.

And spare me the comparison between a NASCAR race on a plate track and college football. I would agree with you if she had moved up to get to 8th on the last lap i.e. running 10 all day. But she didn't.

Again, it is ok to say you misspoke on that statement (not disagreeing about her driving because I don't know and thus far haven't seen anything to say she will win on the mile and halfs or short tracks). And chances are she will have a decent chance at Dega because that is the nature of plate racing that allows like Keslowski win there when driving for an underfunded team or Derrick Cope or Ward Burton win on plate races.

  • So her being in 3rd place on the last lap, a race which she finished 8th, proves she doesn't suck?

    Shane8773

  • They have ruined racing, running around a track with 43 car in a row for 190 miles is not racing. I hate the big tracks, the only racing is now at Bristol, Richmond, Martinsville and any other track of one mile or less.

No I didn't say that. So lets not try to shift the argument away from what you said and what I took issue with. On the suck issue, I said I don't know. I don't care either. I have no reason to declare she is awesome or crappy and then never change my opinion when we see her race at more tracks. But many will do that and I am guessing you will be in that category, but I could be wrong.

I simply took issue with your statement that she was never even close to winning. Being 3rd going into the final 2 turns is close to winning. We have seen many times in plate races where the top 2 drivers take each other out and the 3rd or further back car wins.

So that is what I was talking about and that was very clear.

Honestly, I would be disappointed if she didn't have stronger runs there. There is much more correlation between indy cars and plate racing than any other type of NASCAR track. She already has an understanding of the affects of air on cars and drafting from INDY; to a dgree anyway. Additionally, plate tracks are not a venue where she has to muscle around a 3,300 lb car which would highlight her ability to drive these cars. No one should use plate tracks to judge someone's overall ability as a "stock car" driver, and the same can be said for road courses. Ovals, excluding restrictor plate racing, are the majority of the tracks and results, and opinions, should be weighted primarily towards those.
