North River is pretty nice. Really cool clubhouse and overall property. I think Saban may play there, when he's not at the helm of the college football world. (g)

Ya he does. A membership is included in his salary. Spurrier plays there a lot too.

North River is an amazing golf course!

Turtle Point Yacht and CC... And Ross Bridge.

It's been 10 hrs since I moved away from Birmingham, but we used to play Mt Brook CC a lot. Wasn't the hardest, or best designed corse in the world, but you were almost always out there by yourself and the course was immaculate.

Limestone Springs gets my vote for one that's open to the public.

Haha...that place is terrible. I live a few miles away and would rather drive an hour than play there. I always seem to end up there though because it's cheap (BOGO coupon) and everyone I play with is terrible. So it really doesn't matter where we play.

After more than 15 years of experience of playing B'ham and AL golf courses, my vote would be:

1. Old Overton CC - I am definitely biased here since it was home course for a while, but it's hard to argue
2. Shoal Creek
3. Farm Links
4. Birmingham CC West Course
5. North River CC
6. Kiva Dunes

Ross Bridge, Ole Colony, Greystone, etc. are all nice as well, but they don't make my tops list.

Good news = a lot of good golf in AL!
