OT: First Braves Game- Parking?

  • Off topic, but hoping for some help. I am heading over to Atlanta tomorrow afternoon for my first Braves game in over 10 years.

I can't get on the road to Atlanta until about 3:00 Central, getting me around the stadium at 6 to 6:30 Eastern. Game is at 7:30 Eastern. Friday night against the Diamondbacks (wild card race), I figure there will be a pretty good crowd.

Is parking pretty straight forward? Parking close to the stadium pretty easy? Cost of parking?

    All help is greatly appreciated!

  • Cost of parking ranges between $10-$20, maybe $25 depending on where you park. You can go to the Braves website and buy a parking pass for the blue lot, green lot, etc. that will put you pretty close to the stadium. If you buy online in advance it is a few dollars cheaper than if you arrive at one of those lots with cash in hand for parking.

  • I highly recommend parking a good bit away from the stadium and taking the MARTA in. We usually do so at the Dunwoody MARTA station but that's on the north side of Atlanta. There are a couple easily accesible and safe MARTA stations along I-20 west of Atlanta as you drive in. Take the MARTA to the Five Points station then walk to the Underground where you can take the Braves shuttle (free with your MARTA ticket) over to the game. After they'll take you back to the Five Points station and you can ride the MARTA back out to your station.

  • I hate MARTA but use it if you plan on drinking a good amount. I like to park behind the BP station that is across I-75/I-85 from the stadium. On weekdays its $10 but I think its $20 on the weekend. Its an easy walk and there isn't much traffic on that side of the highway so you can get out pretty easy.

  • If you drive a Lexus, you have it made - park in the Lexus lot. We use the Diamond lot with company tickets,,but use one of the colored lots ie...orange, green, blue when we don't and it's not bad. Getting out of there is a usually a breeze.

Not so much anymore. There is not a Lexus Lot anymore. It is now a Nalley Lot and you have to have a sticker from the Nalley dealership to park in that lot now. I have seen multiple people this year pull up in a Lexus and get turned away and they were pissed to say the least. My girlfriend snagged a ton of stickers from the dealership the last time she went so we have been parking there all year.

If you can find you way to Capitol Avenue then you will have no problem. Park in any of the pay lots and you will be fine. The tailgate scene is pretty good before games as well. I would recommend this if you are not familiar with Marta as it can be a little confusing for newcomers. If you do want to take Marta though you will have to get off at the Five Points station and board a Braves Shuttle bus that drops you off at the front door and picks you up there afterwards, which is pretty damn clutch for sure.

  • We usually park at a church on the west side of I-75...The parking lot is on Central Ave SW/Ralph Abernathy Blvd. The rates aren't too high and the best thing about it is getting out of there. Traffic is re-routed and cannot go under the interstate. You come out of the parking lot and make your way back to Ralph Abernathy Blvd. and head west. Then you'll take a right on McDaniel St. SW and it takes you to I-20. Probably the worst thing about this is walking under the bridge to get back to your car. A lot of homeless people panhandle there, but there is a big police prescence there.

To get there, just take the McDaniel St. exit and then take a left on Abernathy...The church we park at is about 150 yards from the interstate on the left.
