I'm going with yes. Vandy won in the last match-up 14-13 in 2008, so it's not like it's difficult.
I think Vandy would've won this year had they played. Vandy just has a better team, and will be improving next year. The barn on the other hand will be taking a BIG step backward. They lost their best player, both coordinators, and some other coaches.

Vandy offered 3+MM to a guy that had never been a head coach last year in Malzhan. They have committed massive $$ to upgrading the facilities (including building an indoor practice facility). Make no mistake, Vandy has the ability to throw as much money at the football program as anyone in the SEC if they so chose. They have one of the largest endowments in the country. Thus, I think that YES, they will be willing to pay to keep Franklin and do what they need to do to compete. I don't think this will continue to be the Vandy that we used to know.
The lack of TN talent will hurt, but Franklin is already showing that he can go get some top talent elsewhere. Mommas everywhere love the pitch of a Vandy education.
I don't know if anyone has been paying attention, but a similar trend is going on at Harvard in their Baskball program - they have been getting top 100 talent lately with the same approach/pitch. They are dominating the Ivy league (duh), and will make some noise in March, and will get some guys drafted.

I think they could have a lightning strike year and max out at 10 wins if they got 1 great player at QB but year in and year out they can't be better than 8 wins. They are not in a talent rich area and have to recruit against popular state schools in their neighboring states which relegates them to at best 2nd tier players.

Off the wall, but how good could Vandy become?
