And they also have the Number 1 player (5 Star) in Indiana committed.

yeah lets not forget this one.

remember former Indiana stud DE Montez Robinson ? neither do I (because he's burried on the Georgia depthchart next to the waterboy & longsnapper).
but it looks good on paper.

do you remember the last 4 Aub classes ? better yet the 40% of signees that didnt make it past their 1st year ? again neither do I.

  • I have no opinion on whether Ole Miss is cheating or not. Not in my wheel house. However you guys that are defending Ole Miss by equating Hugh Freeze with Nick Saban circa Jan 2008 are plum loco.

The reasons have been listed in other posts but the silliness of that assertion needs to be pointed out frequently. As far as I can tell, the biggest similarities are that they were both entering their second year at an SEC west program that had been moribund for years. That makes Freeze (and Saban) equivalent to Gerry DiNardo (LSU) in 96, Ed Orgeron (Ole Miss) in 2006, Mike Shula (Alabama) in 2004, or maybe Bear Bryant (Alabama) in 1959. I can see the equivalency among all of those coaches.

As for coaching history between Freeze and Saban let's play the matching game. I guess we'll match Ole Miss and Alabama. So perhaps experience at Arkansas St equals the Miami Dolphins? Let's pair Lambuth and LSU (they both do start with L). I guess working for Ed Orgeron was similar to learning with Bill Billichik. Think I'll stop here. Even an Auburn fan could see Saban in 2008 is just a wee bit more accomplished than Freeze.

How about big wins? What do you think is Freeze's best win? Miss St or Pittsburgh. Nick Saban had a better December than Freeze has had career.

Again I've got no problem if you want to challenge the posters questioning Ole Miss. But don't use Nick Saban and Alabama to somehow raise the Freeze/Ole Miss profile. That is a slap at Saban and a board full of Alabama fans.

"Same could have been said about Bama in '07"?! FOR THE LOVE....!!!!

2007 Nick Saban was LIGHT YEARS more accomplished (rebuilt 2 BCS Programs, 2 SEC and 1 Nat'l Title) than FREEZE is! Saban was recruiting to the Bryant Museum, 12 National and 21 SEC Championships, while Freeze is recruiting to WHAT?!

Get some perspective guys... It's apples to oranges, guys!

    I have some perspective.
Stop acting butthurt because another coach other than Saban might be able to recruit without cheating.
To some kids it might be more attractive to try & be the first to build something there instead of being the next in line at Bama. CNS doesn't have room to get them all anyway.

Do some research before posting, pal. Robinson played defensive end at Georgia in 2009.

Montez was dismissed from Georgia in April 2010 after his second arrest in a three-month span, both on battery charges. He was a freshman.

  • "I can go to the NFL, get a degree, play in the SEC"

....can be said about both Ole Miss and Alabama.

Some of you refuse to accept that big W's in college isn't always a priority to these kids

There's a REASON that Ole Miss has never played in SECCG. Elite recruits dont typically seek to play there, period. Yes, they may get a few South Panola studs, but thats about it.

  • I find it just as strange that people are defending Ole Miss as I do that people are accusing them of cheating with no proof. Does it seem weird that OM is getting this much love from out of state 5* players? Absolutely. Does anyone have proof they are cheating? Nope.

  • A lot like the Ogeron (sp?) years, really good top heavy classes but depth is what counts folks....players 1 through 10 are great but its players 30 through 60 that determine champions. No idea why anyone would go to Oxford but hey I think everywhere outside Tuscaloosa is a strange choice. Just sayin

thanks for making my point w/out the leg work required.

looked good on NSD & POOF !!!!!

  • Ole Miss has Nkemdiche's brother and their mom is basically forcing them to play together.

Ole Miss signed Treadwell's teammate last year.

Tunsil has no actual interest in Ole Miss, 0, zilch, just having a fun weekend.

Conner has been an Ole Miss Lock since he was 14.

Chris Jones was an under-the-radar player that seems to be sticking to the only schools that gave him interest early in the process (the state schools Ole Miss and MSU). We didn't give him the time of day early in the process.

  • You guys don't get it. Its not about whining about OM or fearing them superceding Bama. All it is is people noticing an anomoly in recruiting at Ole Miss. I'm 47 and the ONLY time Ole Miss ever recruited this good in my lifetime is now and a few years ago w/ Eddie O.

Mississippi may have sponged as much of the "rebel" image as they can with their goofy black bear but the image still remains and they are still the Rebels. Instate players like Connor and Jones I get. Same with Nkemdiche. The two guys from IN and IL? No way. Do I have proof? No but I have common sense and 40 years of crappy recruiting puncuated by two huge spikes in recruit quality tells me all I need to know.

There's always going to be somebody cheating their rears off in the SEC. I guess its OM's turn.
