Ole Miss IMO

  • All fair points, but based on your theory, why haven't we seen schools like Arkansas, Vanderbilt, UT, Miss. st, hell LSU, S Carolina, etc have the same success. Not sure I buy Ole Miss being a "party school... do you realize what party they are know for? The tailgating on the Grove just "before" the game.... Last time I check players do not attend.

Now, I don't believe they are cheating, but this will be the best class they have ever signed. What is the real allure to Oxford?? time will tell, but I don't think Ole Miss is any different from the schools I mentioned. They are not experiencing a boon of recruiting.

I mean really if u r a school like Ole Miss. How can you not take these types of recruits? It's really just laughable to even debate passing on 5 star prospects. Because it makes your class top heavy. U get these guys while you can get them. & then start building depth in the following class. If they can land 5 or 6 5 stars in this class. & build upon last season on the field this year. Chances are they will continue to bring in some really good talent.

Nobody is saying pass on a top tier guy.

The point isn't whether you should recruit potentially great players. The point is that the hand wringing and accusations of cheating are over blown when you look at the overall quality of their class. Top heavy classes don't make a team a top tier SEC team.

Classes like Ole Miss is getting this year will make them more competitive in a league where everyone has 4 to 5 NFL guys on the roster. The difference between and Alabama and LSwho hasn't been the top tier player. The difference is everyone else on the roster.

Recruiting 20 players 4 star or better is how we recruit. Ole Miss is getting a level of player their school has never had and that is great. However, if they are going to reach the top of the conference they will need to fill the rest of the class with 4 star players instead of 18 3 star players.

So, to recap nobody has said you give the top players to avoid being top heavy. If you want to prevent being top heavy then you improve the rest of the class by swapping 3 star players with 4 star players.

Arkansas and South Carolina have had similar success to what Ole Miss is doing this year in recruiting. Both have over the last few years brought in a couple of super star players along with a ton of average to below average players.

I know you point was to those 2 schools' on the field success. However, I must point out that both schools had former NFL coaches that were highly successful college coaches. Spurrier and Petrino. Both were known for their offensive ingenuity and Spurrier had a National Title under his belt. As I have said before, I don't know Freeze's resume, but he just came from Arky State. So his resume can't be as impressive as Spurrier and Petrino.

    3. Atmosphere - Big time party school, and has a great gameday atmosphere.

Disagree here. Their gameday atmosphere outside the stadium might awesome but inside it sucks.

I think you hit on most of the reasons they are being so successful, but I also believe that Freeze is a legit recruiter and they have several good ones on his side. They are very James Franklin like in their approach. It's a new school approach and it works for kids these days.

5 5 stars in one class. I don't think has been the case. Perhaps over the psan of 203 classes sure, but that is completely different than one class. Besides, my counterpoint to the OP was to some of the reasons Ole Miss was benefiting. If that were truly the case we would see it across the SEC.

I posted another thread about the SEC vs everyone else that shows the SEC is benefiting across the board. A top third team in every other conference is a bottom third team in ours, and more than half the top 25 committed prospects are SEC bound.

I know it's crazy because he's gonna be the only black guy on the team.

  • New here so don't flame! I live in MS(sorry married a MS girl) and its a joke over here. Here is the rundown on how this is happening.
Nkemdiche has a brother, as we all know, and Mom wants them at same school. Kudos to Houston Nutt for this. Also, Dad has taken a job at the med school in Jax, Ms-Hmmm?
Conner, is from S.Panola, an OM football factory. There is a reason D Rudd and DeShea Townsend were the last 2 big time players that came to Bama. Also its only 20 miles from Oxford. Him and DeShea(new DB coach at MSU) are good friends and he may flip him. By the way Hoover smoked S.Panola.
CJones grew up a MSU fan and has a great relationship with that staff. His dad also is very tight with MSU. Doubt he flips.
LHooks was always an OM lock. He will start for them next year. The dline is sucks and they are small all PT for him.
LTreadwell is a big get for OM. However his mom is very religious and freeze played on that, he is always quoting scriptures to parents. She was the decision maker in that. And also grades . OM is easy to get into.
Treadwell and E Daniel are good friends from the recruiting circuit. He more than likely is prep school or JC bound.
Not sure about the others, except PT. They have no depth at OL, DL,LB, or DBs.
Freeze is a good coach. He's won at all stops. But he is that guy that plays this real religious role with parents. He is also cry baby HS coach that gets tight in big situations. Could have beat TAMU but had a 4th and in and had a 6'5 qb in the shotgun and ran a read option.
He and Frank Wilson were the bag men for Ogeron. Needless to say he is a little shady. Also his offense is a gimmick based on one read for the QB, like UM was at UF. They have no JManzeil or Tebow. Bo Wallace sucks an INT waiting to happen. The two QBs arent that good Kincade way to small in stature for this league. The prep school kid is ok but played in a weak league-MS private schools SUCK!! Neither can spin it that well. TIFIW but thats my 2 cents.

  • why is Lawson mentioned with Ole miss?

he said its down to Auburn, Clemson and Tennessee.

    TideR30

  • The real question is why do all three of their current 5* commits have interest/offers from less than stellar schools? Baylor, Marshall, Arizona, Arizona St? I think Oklahoma was about the best school I saw on their interest list.

This...Freeze recruited under Orgeron. Not sure why anybody thinks that this class is being put together the right way.

Yep. And i made it clear, if Tunsil and Jones start being an OleMiss lean then i would call foul....so yes now im calling foul. All the others made sense but not them. I thought they may have fell into a few recruits but now. No way. Treadwell tweeting money and now Tunsil who has been down to UGA and Bama just randomly goes to OleMiss...doesnt happen

  • ---GREAT Post, very good breakdown. I totally agree on the playing time, and other points you made. Ole "Pi$$" is one of the fastest rising, young teams out there right now. Their program is offering playing time, SEC power conference, and a chance for alot of hot, top ranked, recruits to not only get on the field next season but to START in the SEC as a true freshmen.
---Wheather we want to admit it or not, we are to blame for this especially when you stock pile the talent like we have on the team right now. These kids have seen the depth and skill of the players there now and over the last two seasons. Some kids dont have the heart, and drive to suceed at Alabama. Others just don't want to compete and make the sacrifices to be the best.
---That is what we see every day at Alabama. We are the LUCKIEST FANS on the EARTH.
    ---Just my opinion.

Hey man, Ole Miss has arguably the best looking women in the SEC. In all honestly, I just think OM is doing a wonderful job in recruiting. Kids have the chance to play early and get a shot with some hot babes. I don't care if you're from Chicago, or not...that's hard to pass up. The South is the South...and Ole Miss is actually not a bad place compared to other places. JMO...
