  • HUGE get if we can pull him in.

As we all know, recruits make or break a program. Yes, you need great coaching as well. But without the horses, you can not sustain success. You might have a nice mix of kids one year and play well beyond your potential, but you won't sustain that. IF we want to be a program that can compete year in and year out for the SEC and have any kind of realistic shot at making deep runs in the NCAA....

You HAVE to have elite level talent. We get it in football. Now, it seems were taking strides towards that in Basketball. This will be huge. Hope he does indeed choose the TIDE. Thanks guys. rolltideroll

  • It sounds as though we lead for now, but as we've all seen (especially in basketball) one offer can change the game. Once the offers start rolling in, Kentucky for example, things may change. I think Grant can recruit with the best of them and it's only a matter of time till players like Pollard are a common theme.

In basketball what you're saying is even more true than it is in football. In football if the team has chemistry, great coaching, and has a mental toughness like no other, you can win without great talent (see Boise State, TCU, Utah, Ohio State's title team in 2002 wasn't super talented, Okahoma's 2000 title team didn't have a huge number of NFL players).

In basketball having the most talented team in the country will get you to the elite 8 minimum. See 09 Kentucky for reference on that.

  • He looks to be the quickest/fastest player we have had here in the last 30 years. Comparisons to guys like Iverson and Brandon Jennings are lofty. It was interesting reading the story from the UVA site that said if they lose out on him then they will turn up the heat on one of our former verbal commits, Jaren Sina. I guess this means we would rather have AB.
