PMarshall: "Historic Meltdown"

  • LOVE THIS one from the thread aufan89:

Normaly I would agree PM about the Natty. But... Has any team in history enjoyed their Natty less? Every day, every outlet, it was a foregone conclusion that we had payed for the Natty. It's barely 20 months later and it feels as if didn't happen. In time it will mean alot more than it does now I suppose, but we have payed dearly for it in alot of ways!

  • WOW @ the delusion and hypocrisy in this post. SMH.

"I remember a great president at uat who was let go because he said in a speech that he would rather be #1 in education than #1 in football. That was the end of concern for excellence in education there. I hope it doesn't go the far at Auburn."

Pretty straight forward, and I loved every demoralized word he wrote.

  • LOL, is this true:

"Tim Brown is saying right now that when he was at Auburns practice about 2 years ago, our receivers pulled him to the side and were asking him how to release off of the line? He said Are you kidding? That's football 101 he said. He then went over to our WR coach and asked, do you not teach these kids how to release off the line? He said the coach told him we don't teach that, we don't have time. Tim said, coach, that's WR 101!"

"Tim Brown was on XM radio 10 minutes ago and they were laughing about it. The host said, do you think Nick Saban has time to teach releasing off the line? Our Coaching is a joke and all are laughing!"

That is so freakin' awesome if true!

  • Yeah, but they don't mention that.

Then they act like it's a complete fluke when Ole Miss does it:

"To watch this team is to shake your head in amazement - when a shanked punt is wiped out because of a needless offsides penalty, WHEN A PASS IS THROWN UP FOR GRABS AND A TRIPLE COVERED RECEIVER CATCHES IT AT THE 1-YARD LINE, when the fourth quarter arrives, when two different running backs roll over tacklers and run for touchdowns while other defenders watch. "

Hahaha, you mean like the "Heil Frazier" at the end of the 1st half against LaMonroe that made the difference in the game?

Or when dyer did the same in the national title game?

Even after writing that article PM is still pumping sunshine ...... "QUOTE"

It's getting a bit carried away to say this season maybe Auburn football is not going to come back. History says it will and it won't be long.

    Since Dye arrived in 1981:

    5-6 in 1981, 11-1, SEC title in 1983.

    5-6 in 1991, 5-5-1 in 1992, 11-0 in 1993

    3-8 in 1998, 5-6 in 1999, 9-4, SECCG in 2000.

    5-7 in 2008, 14-0, national championship in 2010.

So accordingly AUBURN will either be in the SECCG or even BCS Champion (Or even moreover the FIRST PLAYOFF CHAMPION) by 2014-2016?? loco

Another coach will improve Auburn, but then the Aubs cannot be any worse than now. They HAVE to improve as there is only direction when you are at the bottom. But they will not necessarily enjoy the transition AU teams have in the past.

Dye blatantly paid players and Alabama was in transition from Bryant to Perkins to Curry.

Bowden inherited a team loaded with talent and admitted to continuing the payroll. Once those Dye recruits left, his teams slipped to increasingly worse records.

Tubs had the best luck of all. He arrived when Dubose positively dismantled our program with scandal and NCAA sanctions. You know the rest as Tubs got to compete against a crippled Alabama and several more coaching changes.

The latest, Jim Chizik, caught lightening in a bottle and we will not see another player like Cam Newton in our lifetimes. His record without Cam proves his competency--and mind you that is still with players being bought hand over fist.

But there is a new sheriff in town in Tuscaloosa. Alabama is a machine now; an unrelenting juggernaut producing NFL talent and marching unrelentingly from victory to victory.

You want a transition period to compare Auburn's next one to? You forgot to list Doug Barfield. There is your answer.
