i am fairly certain Joe Pa is wanting to speak about the allegations and his role in the situation.
I'll wait to hear what he has to say before persecuting him on a message board. However, the one that absolutely disgusts me is the 28 yr old grad asst that walked in on it and let it go.
the whole situation sounds awful but I think Joe paterno has earned enough respect to be heard from by me before I start throwing out statements about what needs to happen.
If what is alleged is the truth and that is Joe's role in it then yes PSU should clean house from the President down. Everyone wants to jump at this because of the severity of the allegations but what we all need to do is wait to see what Paterno's full role was here before determining he should be crucified. I think that should include hearing what he has to say.
God Bless the victims.

I completely agree. I'm just saying I do not understand anyone who says they want to give Joe Pa the benefit of the doubt. There is no suitable explanation for his behavior other than perhaps (I'm not kidding) if he's starting to suffer from dementia. I can only assume the people saying they want to hear his explanation first have not read the grand jury report.

Joe Pa is a prime example of why a man shouldn't be working in his 80's. Especially not someone in a position of authority. I really doubt that he understood what needed to be done. Obvious to all of us but I bet he felt like he should leave those types of things to the administrators instead of saying "wait a minute, I don't trust anyone else to handle this". He's just too old to be dealing with serious shi* like that. Being a HC should have with it a mandatory retirement of at least 75.

The whole thing stinks, I mean really stinks. Why did PSU do nothing about it? If have a hard time believing it was because they were either stupid and didn't care. They must have been protecting somebody, but who? Sandusky...why? He wasn't even an employee at the University then. And McQueary sure climb up the food chain at that coaching staff in a hurry, and he obviously kept his mouth shut to the cops as Sandusky remained a major part of the program. The whole thing is completely unexplainable. I think there is something very very bad buried here.

I am so sick of "joe didn't know the extent" that is complete BS. Sandusky only had been on his staff since 1969!!! There is no way he didn't know. And it is laughable that the AD has taken the blame on this..Does anyone really think the AD who Paterno hired is going to move forward with anything without consulting joepa first.
This is ridiculous..He needs to walk away right now.

Agree, not trying to perpetuate a conspiracy- but connect the dots. I dont know if Sandusky had something on Paterno but to know what he knew and not react to it aggressively is the biggest mystery. It seems we now understand why Sandusky was not the heir apparent to Paterno. It now makes sense why Sandusky retired so early and as one of the top coordinators in the country. He liked sex with boys more than coaching. Why was this monster protected and actually allowed to thrive in an environment designed to give him a new crop of victims year after year. What is the real number of victims? Paterno is Penn State.Paterno obviously went out of his way to protect Sandusky. The question is WHY?
