NFL Network reporter Kim Jones reported Friday that Penn State plans to take down the Joe Paterno statue outside of Beaver Stadium.

Paterno is the most famous of the people responsible for the cover up, denial, enabling and ultimately the continued child rape at the hands of Jerry Sandusky. Many say he was the most powerful and wielded his influence over all the Penn State officials making him the key to the continued abuse by Sandusky, years after he should have been put away. Paterno's motives included financial considerations (he and other officials were inverstors with members of the board for the Second Mile), the image of Penn State (which is ironic today) and his own chase for the wins record.
I hate to see the way Paterno is bearing the brunt of the public outlash in this case but he brought it on himself, his family and Penn State. May the chips fall where they may!

THIS is why I don't think you should put up statues of people during their careers....just sayin.' I know CNS would NEVER have made the callous decisions JoePa did, but you this stuff over and over, glorifying people and then having to walk it back.......

Even before the independent report came out you knew that he knew all that happened when he said that was the worst mistake he had ever made ...sad all the way around...

Not a shock. It seems like the good people at Penn State still haven't accepted this fully scandal yet. This should NEVER have even been a discussion.
There is talk of shutting down the the football program at the NCAA and yet Penn State took weeks to decide to remove a statue. It's like they don't get it yet.

Not only the NCAA But the federal government is threatening to take financial aid away and doing there own type of death penalty. As well as I read that the Big Ten was considering kicking them out.
