  • The discussion was about why alabama doesn't play black qb's or put any in the nfl, anybody know who he may be talking about?

I absolutely hate it when people(usually allbarn or ucheat fans) bring this garbage up. When Saban got here had a Jr starter at QB and two years later he had a 4th year Jr. Now this year 3rd year Soph beat out True Freshman Sims. What is so hard to understand about that? Bama has had a similar number of black QB's as any other SEC school. Walter Lewis, Zow, Woodson etc. Bama fans don't give a rip what color the QB is as long as he can win. This is just SlimeBomb stirring the pot.

Now Sims leaving would not surprise me though because he was highly recruited and none of those top QB's want to sit for three years.

  • He interjected that DGB was visiting Arkansas due the previous convo.

  • Most of those same "enlightened" journalists who think they know the motivations of our coaching staff still believe that Andrew Zow was our mobile QB and Tyler Watts was the dropback passer.

  • Ha, or during the first couple games (especially A-Day) this past year when Sims was referred to as a "dual threat" QB when he's anything but. He's black... must be dual threat then! banghead

Did not here that but that is probably where he ends up at with wilson returning who was mentioned in heisman talk along with lacy. Bet aj will be in the talk a month in with the new oc we have.......

  • Not saying they haven't had one, but I honestly can't remember the last great black QB at Arky. And if our coaching staff is opposed to playing a black QB, why are they going after JW so hard?

    Sims was a redshirt freshman.

    +1

Saban has a pretty good track record thus far at Alabama selecting winning QBs, no matter the race. At the end of the day, it is all about winning. You never hear anyone complain about the lack of white RBs.

The fact of the matter is Saban, as well as all coaches, are paid to win games regardless of the color of any players skin. All that matters is they're wearing crimson. Race isn't an issue any more in any sport. Best players play at Alabama.

  • I hope DGB learns how to throw the ball to himself because after Wilson is through, he'll be screwed. Those QB's behind him are garbage.

  • Lets look at things logically here.
Since he arrived in Tuscaloosa Saban has signed six true quarterbacks (i.e. players who he planned on playing at qb not qbs like B. Sims or Maze) I included Alec Morris in this stat even though he has yet to officially sign is LOI They are Fanuzzi in 2007 Jackson in 2008 McCarron in 2009 Sims in 2010 Ely in 2011 and Morris this year. That is 4 white and two black. Here is a run down of their career,
Fanuzzi sat behind Wilson and McElroy then transferred to Rice and started probably never would have started at a powerhouse.
Jackson could not crack the two deep at GSU enough said.
    McCarron duh
Sims is a good qb but its obvious that AJ is better. GASP a coach player the BETTER player who happens to be white.
Ely and Morris jury still out.
Anybody who watched our early games could see that McCarron was a better player. Saban was brought to Bama for one reason and thatt was not only to win but win big. I can say that if Sims had started, we probably would have dropped another game or so and not be sitting here as NC champs! (no disrespect to Sims but the NC game showed why AJ starts)

  • Reminds me of this little gem I came across on some *U forum:

"Old friend from school, really a friend of a friend, posted on facebook he didn't want bamer to offer a certain all-star QB. I simply posted, why not. He decided to pm me his response. He explained he didn't want a player of that race to QB his team. He said it in the most disgusting and disrespectful way he could, truly revolting. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but he floored me when he said his co-workers feel the same way. Reminds me of my great uncle praising a young man one minute and using racial slurs the next, when talking about the same man. I really don't think these views are the minority for that fan base. I also think Updykes and Downings are not just the minority. I have three decent friends that pull for bamer and come from good families, the older I get......I think they are the minority."

    macamatic

  • The black issue is stupid. Most of our team is black. If Simms leaves its because he doesn't want to be a backup to a very good QB until his last year and who knows who might overtake him by then. I don't blame him and its common for backup QB's to leave for a place they can play earlier.

    bamamba1989

  • I can't believe that in this day in age that people still use the color comment in college football. Like the article I read yesterday said "Saban would sell his mother for a weekside linebacker" The same people who rage that Saban would do anything to win are the same ones who are dumb enough to say that Saban wouldn't use a Black QB. Wouldn't it stand to reason that if he would do anything to win, then he would play whoever is more likely to give him that outcome.
