Says who? i'll believe it if it's announced by a credible Bama source, but not until then.

Do you think he transfers if we sign Winston?

Philip Sims may very well transfer. I don't think he stays around to see how good he can be at Alabama. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is! I fervently believe he will become a better QB over time than AJ.

His problem this season was 1) his youth and inexperience and 2) AJ not doing things to put our team AT a disadvantage during a championship run. If we had lost 2 games during the first half of the season, we MIGHT have witnessed an entirely different set of game circumstances relative to the QB play. I believe that Philip Sims needs to stay put and compete everyday and get better.

This is for Tider N FL: If Philip works hard in practice and improves against our defense, ONE season as a starter is MORE than enough to get drafted high from the University of Alabama. I believe that Philip would change the complexion of our offense without even changing the play calling. This season the game was just too fast and complex for him to process and WIN the starting job against AJ who showed that he is more than capable of playing WINNING football.

The other WILDCARD in this situation is the NEXT offensive coordinator. He may see major improvement and ability in Philip Sims. This in turn might lead to a change in offensive philosophy and leadership. Also, AJ may regress under the direction of a new offensive coordinator and scheme.

AJ may not be supplanted early on but, the snaps would be shared. The end of the 2012 season OR the following season would lead to one of those guys being the primary QB, most likely Sims. The reason being that he was being groomed to assume the mantel during the prior season.

PHILIP SIMS DOES NOT NEED TO TRANSFER TO PLAY QB AT FBS-level or to ASCEND TO THE NFL.

This^^ plus the loss of sims would leave us with little to no true back up, cosidering drop off at defense and rb, the qb position will be relied upon more than ever, lacy has been injury plagued and qb play could be the difference in a 10-2 and 8-4 season. No need to blast but to leave us with fowler and b.sims and a couple of freshman at rb could would leave us in a tight spot, we need both aj and sims plus wr's and te's to step up.

Agree completely! Character matters to the NFL brass. Quitting at Bama would cost Phillip a lot of money when it's time to get paid. And quit for what, a few press clippings? Makes no sense...

Winston has proved nothing at Alabama. Let's hope Phillip doesn't transfer. The last thing we need is for Aj to go down next year and have to play someone with 0 experience.

Phillip hasn't proved anything either. I wouldn't count what he did as valuable experience either.

I just hope the coaching staff is really selling Winston on this possiblty I agree with most that sims will most likely transfer after this season. The positive side to this is we can sell Winston on a much more open Qb position if sims does transfer.
