Pictures of student section and south end zone

  • I'll let y'all make your own judgements. I think it's time to make a change

This is the beginning of the 2nd half

  • That's the Greek section. I use to sit by the band with the majority of other students...being the loudest part of the stadium.

Tell me, how loud are those empty seats?

Sorry, the top 12 rows of the upper deck that were never inhabited are not the Greek section.

  • I keep seeing threads like this and I really don't understand them. It's not like they are ever going to get rid of the student section so why talk about it every home game we have.

  • You know.... it just might be that some of those kids left the cold high seats up there for the lower bowl at half. Just saying.

Half the student seats are from the 25 to the corner of the endzone. They were 100% full most of the game. But, unsurprisingly, no one posts pictures of that.

Nope. They never even filled those seats AT THE FIRST HALF, husky...the excuses are all hollow now.

  • Why does a new thread have to be started about this. Why could you not post these pictures in the other student flaming thread?

That's because a full student section is expected.
Kinda like a sell out is expected.
They were full for the first half yes but the upper south end zone had about 1-2000 empty seats pretty much the whole first half and tons more the 2nd. There were no excuses for not having a COMPLETELY full stadium last night. SEC matchup against a top 15 opponent with perfect football weather with a prime time kick off. No excuses for the students from me. I call them like I see them.

Who cares if some students left the upper deck for the lower bowl? That's not the point. The point is the students obviously don't need that many seats because they don't use them. Those seats should be sold to non-students. It's as simple as that.

  • There was always a massive sense of entitlement from the older UA fans who remember the Bryant era. I am a little surprised to see students become so accustomed to and board with blow outs this quickly.

No. You must be talking about another game. Last night, they were never close to full.

  • I'm a student and I don't think the students should have those upper seats allotted to them. Even if every student used their ticket for a game, the upper deck area would still look sparse because none of the students want to sit up there. They would rather cram into the lower bowl or even stand in the aisles than sit up there. That's not to say that just the student section in the lower bowl would be enough for the entire student body, just that the upper deck shouldn't be for students. I stayed the whole time by the way. Never leave a game early. Rammer Jammer's the best part biggrin

Some of you guys need to get a life man. The reason the upper deck is empty is because the students that have those tickets crowd down in the lower level. They can only sell tickets for the amount of seating. Some of you guys are butt hurt.

TY for talking with some thought and sense, instead of stupid defensive rhetorical mudslinging.

We need to ALL have the common goal of FILLING THIS STADIUM, and KEEPING IT FILLED. EVERY game, EVERY second. No excuses, if we expect the players to play 60 minutes no matter what. NO excuses.

Now we just need to figure out HOW to fix it.

  • I was at the game last night. For whatever reason this problem seems to be getting worse, not better. As a fan I feel it looks bad as well as personally knowing several friends that would pay the money for season tickets. I have no idea what the answer is but it does need to be addressed. Not talking about it for fear of insulting the students is not the answer.

  • Does anyone have any actual numbers on student attendance before we skewer the students? Or does it just "look bad to you?"

The "the upper deck wasn't full" is NOT a legit argument agaisnt the students... maybe the University's seating planning.

    Put it this way:
-For easy math, let's say there are 10,000 seats in the Student Section, 6,000 lower, 4,000 upper.
-The University can ONLY let 10,000 students into the game (Fire Code).
-I can tell you from my time as a student, we packed ourselves in pretty tightly.
-So for the sake of argument, let's just say 100% of the tickets get used.
-So let's say 8,000 students pack themselves into the lower bowl... it's at 133% capacity.
-That leaves 2,000 students for the 4,000 upper deck seasts... it looks half empty.

I'm not defending the students, as it's pretty obvious that they're a PART of the problem. But they are only a part. This asinine split seating arrangement has got to go, along with the block seating for the Greek section.
