Possible starting defense in 2 years...

You have a good point there. I was originally going to say three years but knowing how everyone these days leaves for the NFL early. It was mostly to point out the wealth of talent we have on the teams

And I disagree with you on 2010. It wasn't on defense that caused us to lose games. I blame our offense. The only game our defense really got abused was against south Carolina (we got manhandled by them). The offense had 7 points against LSU again LSU through 3 quarters and had a total of 67 yards in the second half against auburn. That's why we lost those 2 games. I know our secondary gave up some big plays that year. But they had absolutely zero pass rush to help them (until the auburn game). Injuries to upshaw and dareus for most of the year put so much pressure on our secondary that year.

I don't disagree that the O could have played better but the D gave up 4 tds in 2 different games that year. When your team is totally built on D and to control the ball on O you can't give up 4 tds in games.

The south Carolina game yes blame the defense.

The Auburn game no. When you have 67 yards in a half that means you are basically going 3 and out every possession. And with Cam Newton on the other side of the field there is only so long before Auburn was going to score some points. Had the offense not quit the defense would have been fresh and we would have won.

Really had Mark Barron not been playing with a torn pectorial we would have won. He should have taken himself out of the game. Id say holding Cam Newton to 21 points (I know they scored 28 but the Barron play was a freebie they would not have normally got) was awesome by our defense and all the offense had to do was score 1 freakin touchdown in the second half and they couldnt get the job done.

We'll have to disagree then. When your O scores 27 pts against the number one team in the nation your D (which your team is built around) shouldn't give up 4 tds. Especially when you are a ground and pound and control the clock built team.

Whether Barron was hurt or not that still counts against the D. Not the O's fault a defensive player was playing that was hurt (b/c we had no depth) and cost a TD.

I will never change my mind that a Saban coached D isn't to blame when they give up 4 tds. Sorry.

I guess the same could be said for the first half. How did we give up any points in the first half when we completely dominated it? We had the ball and dominated yet our D still gave up pts. It works both ways.
