Quick note about Kenny Bell

  • Kevin Norwood said during his interview session that he has no doubts that Barrett Jones is going to be ready for Monday's game, but that Kenny Bell will try and go as well.

Why not? He has nothing to lose.

Well, if the doctors clear him I'm all for him giving it a go...but another surgery on that leg could hamper his career, so there is that...

How would him playing increase the chances of another surgery on the same leg?

If he's still recovering then he could re-injure it easily. Got to let those muscles build back up and strengthen.

  • If Kenny can run deep a few times Monday night to keep ND honest, then I'm all for it. Maybe he'll be able to draw some attention away from Coop and free him up. But yeah, if he's not ready there's really no point and I'm sure our docs and coaching staff wouldn't risk it.

  • Ok - I meant nothing to lose in trying. Of course he wouldn't be cleared to play if he isn't ready or could do more damage by playing.

  • i just hope like hell that he doesnt "try to go" when he has no business out there and the coaches let him play becuase he tells them he is good to go when he is not

Many of us knew that's what you meant. It's got to be difficult having so many fans second-guessing everything you write.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass but do you really think he would be medically cleared if he was in danger of re-injuring his leg?

    Thanks for the update Chris.

That's not what I'm saying. I was just responding to what Devon asked. If he is likely to re-injure then he won't be cleared.

Personally, I don't want him to risk "trying it out." I'd rather see him be benched and get back to 100%

  • Each time we see Bell he's doing a little more. Ran more routes today, has a little less of a limp. Still in black no-contact jersey, though
