Quick updates on the Kristen Saban lawsuit

  • According to an email from attorney Joshua P. Hayes to outkickthecoverage.com: “Bob Prince and I are proud to represent Kristen Saban. We strongly dispute the allegations -- and that's all they are at this point -- made in the complaint. We will vigorously defend Kristen and the truth will come out.”

Also this from the Associated Press:
A police report shows a University of Alabama sorority member didn't want to press charges after claiming she was beat up by the daughter of Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban.
A Tuscaloosa Police Department report obtained Friday by The Associated Press through an open records request shows officers closed the case three hours after it happened in 2010. A spokesman says that's because the sorority member declined to prosecute.
The document doesn't show any names. But police say it's the report created after Alabama student Sarah Grimes went to a hospital emergency room claiming she was injured in a fight with Kristen Saban, the coach's daughter.
Grimes is now suing for at least $10,000. Kristen Saban has filed papers saying she acted in self-defense and isn't responsible for Grimes' injuries.

This is a very strange choice of attorneys. Bob Prince and his group are Plaintiff's attorneys. They are very good in the area of auto accidents and things of that nature, but hiring them to defend a case like this seems odd.

  • Holy $#%@ what a circus. Look I don't know what happened but both of those girls seems crazy. Roommate is a tutor for the football team and apparently Kristen is off her rocker

Apparently it was an LSU fan who tipped them off and they ran with it. Just FYI.

Umm bobby is known for taking down the insurance companies..If I had my choice of any lawyer in town in any form of a lawsuit, no doubt it would be him.

Taking down the insurance companies means he's typically on the other side of cases like this. He's the one filing the suit, rather than defending it.

I hope guys like Clay Travis cease to exist in sports journalism. They aren't in it for the right reasons. Sadly, "sensationalists" are here to stay, and they are growing in numbers daily.

  • Bob Prince is one of the best lawyers in the state. While he primarily represents plaintiffs, he can handle any sort of case on any side. There must be no insurance coverage to provide a defense for Kristen so the Sabans hired he best lawyer in town. Prince and his group will run circles around Steve Strickland.

Will Saban's attorney fees surpass the $10,000 payoff? (I understand it states that is a minimum amount)

It really wouldn't shock me if Prince did this at reduced rates as a favor and a way to help get his name out there. How much do you think it's worth to tell a potential client "Oh, and Saban picked me when he needed someone to represent his daughter."

And, as has been said, he really is one of the best lawyers in the state. He does litigation because it's where the money is. He's also a great guy, and truly loves the university.

  • Not to be redundant, but as a law student at Alabama, Bob Prince was one of my competition trial ad coaches and whether he's doing civil or criminal, the guy is amazing at what he does. Learned more in those two semesters than the rest of the time I spent at bama.

  • Prince and I were classmates at UA law. He's good at what he does, plaintiff or defendant.

As for the "fight" - if a suit was filed for every dorm or greek "we had too much to drink" fight, we'd need 1000 more judges in this state. Been practicing law for nearly 38 years and still don't understand why some folks are so thin skinned and can't just walk away, lesson learned.
