Random MLB question.

  • May be a lame question. I haven't really watched baseball since i was a young kid back in the early 90's. i am thinking about becoming more involved in watching and following this year. So my question is, who do most of you guys root for? Braves or another team. Also, who are some of the superstar players in the league that I should be on the lookout for? Thanks.

  • I root for the Braves.

Just a few guys off the top of my head you should look out for-

    Stephen Strasburg P- Nationals

    Bryce Harper OF- Nationals

    David Price P- Rays

  • I'm a Braves and BoSox fan. I watch every Braves game and try to keep up with the Sox as much as possible. If the two play each other though, I'm 100% Braves without a second thought.

Some exciting players for the Braves are Jason Heyward (RF), Justin Upton (LF), B.J. Upton (CF) if he can be consistent, Freddie Freeman (1B), Kris Medlen (SP), Eric O'Flaherty (RP), Jonny Venters (RP), and the Bama boy Craig Kimbrel (CP). We'll see how Andrelton Simmons does with a full year. There are obviously some other solid guys on the team.

Some other guys to look out for are...
C - Buster Posey (Giants), Joe Mauer (Twins)

1B - Albert Pujols (Angels), Joey Votto (Reds), Mike Napoli (BoSox), Adrian Gonzalez (Dodgers), Prince Fielder (Tigers)

2B - Brandon Phillips (Reds), Robinson Cano (Yankees)

3B - Miguel Cabrera (Tigers) Evan Longoria (Rays), Adrian Beltre (Rangers), David Wright (Mets)

SS - Troy Tulowitzki (Rockies), Hanley Ramirez (Dodgers), Jose Reyes (Blue Jays)

OF - Matt Kemp (CF Dodgers), Andrew McCutchen (CF Pirates), Adam Jones (CF Orioles), Mike Trout (CF Angels), Josh Hamilton (Angels), Carlos Gonzalez (Rockies), Ryan Braun (LF Brewers), Yoenis Cespedes (A's), Andre Ethier (RF Dodgers), Jose Bautista (RF Blue Jays), Giancarlo Stanton (RF Marlins), Bryce Harper (Nationals), Carlos Beltran (RF Cardinals)

SP - Justin Verlander (Tigers), Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers), R.A. Dickey (Blue Jays), Josh Johnson (Blue Jays), C.C. Sabathia (Yankees), David Price (Rays), James Shields (Royals), Cliff Lee (Phillies), Roy Halladay (Phillies), Cole Hamels (Phillies), Jared Weaver (Angels), Zach Greinke (Dodgers)

There's so many more great players out there but I got worn out during the middle of the starting pitchers lol. I probably went a little overboard but as you can see, I love me some baseball.

There are a lot of other guys that are fun to watch that maybe don't get the fan fare as some of the guys I mentioned. Guys like Martin Prado. The great thing about each year is there are guys that come out of nowhere and become superstars, like R.A. Dickey, Mike Trout, etc.

Sorry for the entirely too long post.

  • Texas Rangers lifer, back to when Conseco was taking balls of his head in the outfield. Look out Profar if he makes the roster, and Buster Posey is prob my fave player playing right now.

  • Jason Heyward is gonna have a huge year. Absolute specimen -no homo- that is only 23 yrs old but carries himself like 10 yr vet. Word around Orlando is he is assuming leadership role in a big way. I think last season's bounce back allowed him to come into this season with a lot less pressure, and he is going to have fun playing with his fellow OFs in ATL. His offensive ability coupled with gold glove defense will put him in good position for MVP barring Braves collapse.

  • If your still reading this thread....and have MLB network - watch some of the World Baseball Classic being played now. Lots of pure ball in this especially from teams like Japan, Netherlands, the DR (wow what a batting lineup) Cuba, and the surprise of the tournament so far - Italy is 2-0 beating Mexico and Canada so far - they play USA tonight 8pm Central I believe. US must win or at least not lose by a lot and then win tomorrow against Canada to advance to round 2. We lost to Mexico last night. First round is a 3 game round robin format with 4 teams in each bracket. Top 2 advance to a double elimination format until the final four matchup in single eli.

It's a lot of PRIDE with the teams almost like a college atmosphere, but with major league players all around the clubs....and the crowds insane especially for teams like DR, Puerto Rico, Japan, Cuba, Venz., Mexico, heck every team really.
