Pybus is a great reminder of how little being named SEC-Freshman All-American can mean.

I reas one article once that said that being named a freshman All-American isn't always as big of a deal as you might think...the fact that a freshman is starting and seeing so much playing time can indicate a serious weakness on that team at that position. The best freshmen in the country may not be starting or playing all that much because they're stuck behind other true all-Americans. Case in point...the Sporting News named two running backs to its freshman All-American team in 2009. Dion Lewis had 1800 yards in 2009, 1060 in 2010, and was drafted in the fifth round. Ryan Williams had over 1600 yards. And while they were great players, we all know who the best freshman running back in the country was in 2009.

Dre Kirkpatrick is about to be a first round draft pick...but he couldn't get on the field as a freshman CB.

Yeah. He's a perfect fit down there. Great talent, but the brain power of a half-tard goat.

Let me also be clear - this is purely a football discussion. If you want to go to Auburn or anywhere else on a free academic ride because they offer a great degree program, that's one thing. There are plenty of Bama fans who go to Auburn to become engineers, architects, etc. just like there are plenty of Auburn fans who go to Tuscaloosa to become lawyers, journalists, artists, etc.

I have no problem with that part of it assuming you don't change allegiances over it.

But if you're a football player like Bo Jackson and can name your school, you don't just up and go to Auburn if you've been a true Bama fan your whole life.

Bo is no different than Cadillac, Demarco McNeill, Karlos Dansby or any other so called "die-hard Bama fan growing up" who went down there. Screw them.

    Agreed
