I felt that he was going to have to run a good 40 to get in the first round. Running the 40 may knock him out of the first, but not running the 40 could also keep him out of the first. He's not a burner or anything, but his speed is adequate for the NFL, I know he has put on some weight, but he had legit speed coming out of HS.
The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.

Didn't Nick Saban advise Eddie to stay in school and prove to NFL GM's that he could stay healthy?

Saban would never advise a running back that could go in the 1st or 2nd round to come back. To much wear and tear especially when considering the length of a running backs career. Add that to the fact of him being the No1 rated running back, he shouldnt have come back.

I don't about the reason, but he told Eddie that he needed another year. He said at the PC when players were announcing that he thought Lacy needed another year, and that the reports of when he would be picked were not accurate, and wouldn't go as high as the advisory board was projecting him.

My recollection of those comments is exactly the opposite. At the time EL wasn't the number one RB on the board. There were very few analysts that had him as a 1st round pick. Saban said they were mistaken in that he was underrated.
I seriously doubt he held a press conference to say that the scouts have overrated his player and he really isn't going to go as high as everybody thinks. Haha
