Report: Kirby Smart turns down Kentucky

According to a report from Matt Jones of KentuckySportsRadio.com, Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart told Kentucky he was not interested in becoming the Wildcats' next head coach.

He either wants to leave the SEC or get a bigger named school to offer. Glad he is not leaving yet although I realize that it is just a matter of time. RTR!

What is the financial gap between what he makes as a DC and the head guy at Arkansas or TN, anyone know? He'll be coveted as long as he stays here under CNS but I wonder if the $ pull is too great for him to remain much longer.

He makes about a million a year at UA right now. Arky was paying Petrino $3 million plus. Derek Dooley was making about $2.5 million. It's substantial, but it's not an opportunity that is going to go away for his as long as he's CNS's DC, so he is waiting for the right opportunity. I'm sure he would take UT if offered.
