Road to NSD; Who is left? Who does Bama get?

  • With the as expected re-committment of OL Brandon Hill, There is very little room left in the Class of 2013. I can tell you this; the last 4 or 5 commits will all be big names.

There are 22 prospects that are the most talked about as being possible members of the 2013 Class, 4 of which I believe will become part of this class, with 6 more vying for the final spot. The other 12 can pretty much be eliminated.

As always, props to the 247 staff as their insight is heavily reflected in this post!

Here is a rundown of the most talked about names that may or may not be left on our big board. And IMO where they stand. The ones I predict as being members of this class are marked by a (+), and the ones I see as possible members are marked by an (*).

    +OT-Laremy Tunsil
He is the top OT in the country and this is a position of need for Bama. In the end, I believe the staff will do their part in convincing LT of this, and he will become a part of this class.
    *OT-Austin Golson
Golson is a guy the staff likes. A lot. They have done a great job recruiting him. There is only one spot left on the OL, and if we miss on Tunsil, Golson will be our man.
    +S-Vonn Bell
Only one slot left at DB and Bell should get that spot despite a late push from OSU to steal him away.
    S-Antonio Conner
Ole Miss commit. Forget about him.
    CB-Jalen Ramsey
Bama is pretty much out of the picture for Ramsey. When Bama took a committment from Jonathan Cook, it became clear that JR was no longer an option
    CB-Mackensie Alexander
Hasn't shown serious interest in Bama lately, and the feeling is mutual. It is safe to say that he probably won't be a part of this class.
    +DE-Dee Liner
Color him Crimson, and don't be surprised when he brings a 'friend'.
    *DE-Robert Nkemdiche
Bama is working to get an OV, but even if we make up a lot of ground, it probably won't be enough to keep him from committing to Ole Miss.
    DE-Chris Jones
He turned many a head at the Alabama/Mississippi All Star Game, and if it wasn't for the fact that Bama is confident they will be getting Liner, they would likely make a serious run at him.
    DE Alquadin Muhammed
There won't be room in this class for him.
    DE Joe Mathis
    Same situation as Muhammed.
    *DT-Montravious Adams
Bama will get an OV, and that is huge. just may not be enough.
    DT-A'Shawn Robinson
He is visiting in January, but there probably isn't room for him in this class unless we miss on a couple of others.
    DT-Jaynard Bostwick
No room for him, regardless of what happens with others.
    *OLB-Matthew Thomas
He is visiting January 11th, and his athleticism is very intriguing. There could be a spot for him, but it will depend on who commits first.
    *LB/DE-Tim Williams
The staff likes him a lot, and like Thomas, him being a part of this class will depend on the decision of others. It may come down to a spot being available for him or Thomas, with Thomas being preferred, but Williams being more likely.
    +MLB-Reuben Foster
Him reaching out to CNS and taking an unofficial to Bama this weekend is huge. Also, the fact that his friend Dee Liner will likely end up at Bama and another close friend, Bradley Bozeman is already committed to Bama could be big factors in RF's decision. When the smoke clears, I can see Foster applying the 'ink' that counts, and that will be to a LOI to Bama.
    OLB Kendall Beckwith
KB ends up at LSU. Bama is considered by some to be his favorite, but there would have to be several misses before they would take his committment, and I don't see that happening.
    OLB Zach Cunningham
Another tweener 'backer that doesn't have a spot in this class. He probably will not accept a grayshirt either.
    TE-Hunter Henry
The staff will continue to push for Henry. He likes Bama, but several factors such as his father playing for the Razorbacks, him wanting to stay close to home, and the positive effect of the hiring of Bret Beliema will likely keep him at Arky.
    *RB Alvin Kamara
Even with three elite backs already committed, Bama still wants Kamara, and he seems to be leaning our way. Could very well become a member of this class.
    ATH Nate Andrews
He has been told that there won't be room for him in this class, and has re-affirmed his committment to Minnesota.

I am sticking to the predictions I have maintained for a while now in that Tunsil, Liner, Bell and Reuben Foster will be a part of this class. The last spot, if we do take 25, will come from Kamara, Nkemdiche, Adams, Thomas, or Williams, with Golson being a substitute for Tunsil.

If I had to put them in order in level of confidence, It would be Kamara, Williams, Adams, Thomas, and Nkemdiche.

So there you have it! I see Bama finishing with three 5 stars, and a fourth one being a possibility, along with an elite Safety. Not too shabby!

  • Very nice breakdown on targets left. So do we know for sure we are locked at 25? With a couple of EE could we not take 26 or 27? with a couple counting back against last year?

Had two guys that were in the 2012 class that weren't on roster. Brandon Hill and Travell Dixon. We get a back counter for Brandon, which he will use himself. Unfortunately, we won't get one for Dixon because he did enroll. That gives us a max of 26 slots counting Hill.
