Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.

This could be really incredible...or maybe not so much. No doubt NIU has to guarantee the Orange Bowl a certain number of sold tickets, which they will have to eat if unsold. They probably are having to pay face value for the tickets. NIU only had about 17,000 at their last home game. West Virginia's allotment last year was 17,000. The school has to eat any tickets not sold. So if, for example, 10,000 students want to go, and NIU would had 10,000 unsold tickets anyway, it wouldn't cost the university any more to just give those tickets to the students who want to go. I'm sure their beancounters have figured out that this ultimately won't cost them very much, but the PR value is tremendous.
