Saban's Tuesday morning press conference

Being conservative isn't the opposite of being wide open. We are nearly 50/50 which doesn't make you conservative either. We finished with a top 15 O in the nation in scoring.

That is not conservative. Smart. Because we don't turn the ball over. But not conservative.

It's amazing how many people think we are conservative on offense. Even some of our own fans buy into that myth.

Only Wilson and Murray attempted more passes this year than AJ McCarron in the SEC. Pass attempts each game for AJ this season:

    Kent State - 23
    Penn State - 31
    North Texas - 21
    Arkansas - 20
    Florida - 25
    Vanderbilt - 30
    Ole Miss - 24
    Tennessee - 26
    LSU - 28
    Miss State - 24
    Ga Southern - 19
    Auburn - 23
    LSU - 34

    Bama offensive production this year:

    237/357 2,797 yards
    508 carries 2,788 yards

This offenses is as balanced as any in CFB. Now, you might say "we ran the ball 508 times and threw just 357 pass attempts". That is true but when you look at the splits...AJ McCarron threw a grand total of 17 passes in the 4th quarter this season. By comparison, he threw 98 in the first, 94 in the 2nd, and 83 in the 3rd. The only reason this isn't pretty much split is because we had big leads in nearly every ballgame.

    100 percent right.

  • Not everybody who left or got suspended was a "failure" for Saban. I teach senior-level finance--I love teaching, but you soon realize that you can't save everybody. The students who put forth an attempt to do things the right way and learn make it very easy for you to affect their lives in a positive way. You will always have some knuckleheads who make it tough for you to affect.
