Scarbrough sets announcement

  • He said he wants to play for NC....do you all really think he can get that at Clemson (hell no it's the ACC), Georgia or Florida (sorry, try again). It's Bama and remember he's 16 yrs old...relax and let him enjoy himself. If you all want to be so critical, do it to yourself or your own kids.

  • “It really doesn’t make a difference to me who’s committed to that school or who decommits from that school. I just want to go to that school and win a national championship and be the best team in the nation.”

Think you're dead on. Vast majority of all Bama commits and recruits have all 13 other SEC offers and dozens of other offers from the biggest names in the game.

Kids will travel. Most want to just go different places. Other than north port Alabama. Or Gadsen Alabama. Or wherever nowhere Georgia.

Tough to tell a 17 y/o to not enjoy traveling and enjoying the ride.

Coach knows this. And at the end of the day he knows his program has the very best to offer and only those that are willing to commit to excellence and hard work will sign. I'm 110% good with that. We still sign the best of the best every year. And Bo will be apart of that.

  • Sounds like he wants to commit to Bama so people around him will shut up about it, he does live in Tuscaloosa btw, but he still wants to enjoy the recruitment process.

He is 16 and an upcoming junior. Who wouldn't want to be wooed by college coeds for the next 18 months.

Nkemdiche said the same thing not two months ago. He said his #1 priority was to play for a team that could compete for national titles...about a month later he committed to Clemson. The situations are different as of now but for all we know Bo could decide he wants to play with three of his HS teammates down the road. He has yet to begin his junior year of high school. It may look like Bama now and he likely will end up in Tuscaloosa but as you said...he's 16 years old. Who the hell knows how this one will play out?

I just see no reason to make a "commitment" if before you even make it you're talking about how you could de-commit later. Obviously, we could have coaching changes or get smacked by the NCAA again or something else could happen...but then why not wait until you know for sure how the program will look to commit? It's his decision and he can do whatever he wants but making a pseudo-commitment doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Btw, I want the kid in crimson badly and this odd situation hasn't changed that one bit. Unfortunately, it's just how recruiting goes with some kids these days.

"I'm committing because that will get me attention and my picture on the Internet. Then, if it happens that no one is paying me attention any more, I might decommitt to get some attention back on me. Then I might do it all over again if I need some more attention. At this time I don't really know how much attention I actually need, but I'm going to figure that out shortly."

And I can't believe nobody else commented on this post. Hilarious and true of a lot of HS players these days. May not be true of Bo but still very funny. +1.

  • Life will not stop if he does not commit to Alabama. Never worry about the things we can not control. He has until February 2014. His family will be a big part of his decision. His heart is with Alabama of course but Bama has great runningbacks. Tenpenny and Yeldon will help his decision. By the time Bo Scarbrough is ready for college Tenpenny and Yeldon will be going into their Jr seasons. I see Bo committing to Alabama. There is just too much time in between now and then.

  • He's a power RB and he lives and goes to school in Tuscaloosa.

Its well known that Coach Saban loves to run the ball using guys just like Bo Scarborough.

In the last 3 years, Bama has had power RBs win or strongly compete for Heisman trophies, win National Championships, and be first round draft picks.

The decision on where to go play college football is OBVIOUS for him.

I don't begrudge him taking advantage of the opportunity to visit other schools and be treated like a god.

This. I'm sure there will be plenty of drama on this kid, ala Foster. But I'm not worried about him in the end.
