I don't want to sound like just another arrogant SEC fan, but we've lost a Heisman Trophy winner and a Doak Walker winner from our backfield the last two years and Silas would still be fighting for the third spot. I don't think he'd be any higher than fourth and might be fifth. He would be a solid number 5 in LSU's backfield and probably be no. 3 in the Hogs' rotation.
If USC is fighting that hard to land him, they must be pretty one dimensional on offense.

I saw on Sportscenter that they have 6 running backs. I think 5 had no career carries. You would think one or two of those guys would be good (and maybe another serviceable), especially at USC.

RB and DL are their two thinnest and weakest units.....so it makes a lot of sense to go after him.
Also, they lost their top DE yesterday to a torn chest muscle. Out 2-3 months, possibly season. (Devon Kennard).

The big thing to me is that they have to give up a spot for a 4 year player to get him. I think Kiffin is selling USC's soul for a big season (and probably a new contract) this season.

Laney Kiffin basically said exactly that. He stated that they have elite QB, O-Line, and WR play, but need a RB to keep Defenses honest. So ya... you're probably right.
