Guys we all know why hes leaving this has been in the works since the day he came here and didn't win the starting job immediately.....to bad too cuz he could be one play away from being a starter or just another year......seems more like these high rates guys expect to be handed the job instead of earning it......oh well u know it'll help us get a top qb this next cycle

With our defense and running game, if we lost AJ we would still be a great football team. Not sure I'm that worried but it's always nice to have good scholarship QB's on roster.

He's been homesick for quit sometime. He really feels an allegiance to Virginia and his family.

Best of luck to him though, I can certainly understand why the decision is being made, considering he'll have to sit out for a year now anyway. On the bright side, this should allow us to move Blake Sims back to QB now, as his potential at RB was severely limited, as was his potential at QB, while Phillip was getting more & more comfortable. Now that AJ's found his comfort level & won't be as easily knocked out of rhythm, I'd love to see Blake move into the backup role & gain some serious experience by being used in some wildcat packages. He looked awesome in that role last spring.

He is a RS-Freshman.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Blake S move back to QB.

If both those things are true (not saying they aren't), I'm wondering why Blake didn't get any QB reps in spring. Or maybe he did?
