So, is Notre Dame on the upswing, or the down?

  • I've heard SOOO many people this week talking up ND---"ooo, they're getting the talent", or "ooo, they're great", or "oooo, they're the NC's this year", etc..., but IMHO, I feel they are on the downswing. Sure, they're getting talent, but they've ALWAYS GOTTEN TALENT. Talent has never been an issue. BUT, I just don't see them advancing much past the top 20 with the current coach. Players don't respect him, the admin doesn't like him, and he's a POS---actually, very similar to Bobby Petrino.

They are on the downswing, and will be so for many a year IYAM...

what do u guys think, and why?

  • I think they have a huge natural fanbase.

  • Remains to be seem with Notre Dame. We've seen them rise momentarily only to crash to the depths of Vanderbilt once again over the last 20 years. Personally, I want us to play them & beat the ever living crap out of them.

    Racist.

Also, huge and natural shouldn't be used in the same sentence on a sports board.

  • It is hard to tell. They are on an upswing in performance v. Talent compared to Weis' final years of talent being high and production being so low.

Until these other teams look to regard the defensive side of the ball as a must need talent situation, you'll continue to see pop Warner football outside of SEC. The southeast dominates the market for viewers of college football. The old cry is that "they're poor and have nothing better to do," but if they were the dominant conference(s) they would watch. The other conferences just need to focus on high octane defenses...bc if they have a dominant d, their offensive philosophies will then evolve. It's easy to think your O can score in a dime, when you're playing paper thin defenses
