I look at the trend set over the last few years. Ingram played as a Freshman against Clemson. The following season, Trent only played in the fourth quarter against Virginia Tech. Against Penn St. 2010, Richardson received the bulk of the carries. A year later, Richardson and Lacy got pretty much all of the carries.
Ingram was the only Freshman that played a meaningful down in an early big game.
If he's healthy, Lacy should get the opportunity to prove he's the man in a big game against a weak defensive line. Fowler will get 8 or more carries.
As far as Freshman or redshirt Freshman playing early, Ingram was 1a. Unless things change before the first game, Fowler will be the second RB. As a redshirt Freshman, Lacy had his chance but fumbles hurt his playing time.
Hart adds a dynamic that the other young backs didn't. From what we read, Hart would have received carries last season.
Yeldon might eventually be more versatile than all of the backs I mentioned.
Back to Lacy and the OP's question... This is his "Contract Season." If he is healthy and he stays healthy the entire season... I see 1,200 and 13td's. Here's the bonus for Lacy and the other backs this season... It's the "Contract Season" for Jones, Warmack, and Fluker also!!!!
"You feeling satisfied now Teddy?"
