So who believes the Barn skates?

  • +1 for a good topic.

The barn will be lightly punished, so I guess in what we all were hoping for then yes, they will 'skate.'

But what has been shown to the nation, and not just the SEC, is that the barn runs a cheating and dirty program. And it does it w/out the 'swagger' or out-law persona of a Miami. The barn is as filthy as they come. It will be interesting to see if the TV cameras show opposing fans holding signs ridiculing the barn.

The barn will skate, but they have made themselves a national joke and disgrace.

  • The NCAA according to Julie Roe Lach "is not finished yet". If they want you they usually get you - and it appears they may want the barn.

It's been a bad couple of days on the barn burning front.

I think the Miami thing really hurt our chances, the ncaa will not want anymore hi profile scandals, bringing more pressure on them.

Unless the new's people, HBO, somebody pressures them, I think they just got the get out of jail free card.

I hope we beat them 64 - 3 and leave the 1st string in to make a point.

  • I knew they would skate when I started hearing that the NCAA doesn't have a case unless the bagman comes forward. No "bagman" ever came forward in the Albert Means case but the NCAA hammered Bama anyway. They didn't feel like they needed rock-hard evidence against Bama but they seem to feel differently in the Barn case. Because of that reason, I think Auburn skates.

  • The OD is suprising today. I thought they would be talking about its time to close the door on this stuff but everyone still has the tone of something will come out soon about the DS stuff. I dont get it. The same reason he didnt give the name yesterday will still be true in the future. Nothing will come from DS. I do think the NCAA still has a bulls eye on the barn. ANd they will pull the trigger as soon as the have info that can be proven or backed up.

  • Guilty as hell, but they walk.

The investigation has been going on for quite some time now, which can means one of three things:

1.) The deeper they dig the more they're finding,
2.) They can't find anything, or
3.) They've got something but can't quite put together the evidence to make it stick.

From everything I've read and heard it sounds like #3 is the most likely scenario.

    hines011

  • Bottom line- if they are investigating, AU is getting hit. The NCAA isn't going to waste this much time and not do something.
They don't need to have all the evidence in order to make it stick, it's just something that they like to have.

Just sit back and get ready for football season. It's going to be a great year!

  • Probably going down, but I'd rather talk about our own program until major media outlets break something in favor of them going down.

Not opposed to some discussion, but not the amount that we've been having. I also wish the people that speculate or predict what's going to happen own up to mistakes like dixiemafia has done. Some guys seem legit, and some guys make vague posts that allow them to claim they were right all along or if nothing happens claim that they never said anything. They win either way and people upvote them to infinity which is preposterous.

Again, they go down, but honestly let's not speculate til something more concrete comes forward.

  • Since I don't know jacksh*t, and in hopes of breaking some possible jinx that I have placed on any potential barn burning, I'm gonna say NO- they skate.

  • My take on all of this is that they will eventually get burned, and burned badly. There are just too many "head scratching" phenomenons going on with that coaching staff and program to make even the average football fan think they are up to something. They may not get caught for Cam, but I do believe that they will get caught.

Also, I know that as an Alabama fan it sucks seeing Auburn win it all, especially when you just have that gut feeling they cheated. I can't imagine what it would be like if I had to live in the state year round either. But what we need to remember is that all of these scandals we are hearing about didn't just bubble up out of nowhere. It took USC 5 years before it got hit with the Reggie Bush stuff, and yahoo took over a year validating a decade's worth of information before it ran with their Miami story - never mentioning that they were building a story. My point is that all of this with Auburn that is going on right now has potential to blow up years down the road. Who's to say a booster gets his/her feelings hurt and decides to blow the whistle, or more players come forward, or some down on their luck bag man decides to come forward?

The NCAA is still looking, and might honestly find nothing wrong as it relates to Cam Newton and his recruitment. But I just don't see how it is possible for a program under so much national scrutiny for Cam's recruitment, and with a history of cheating, can possibly withstand it all in perpetuity. Eventually some reporter will find someone willing to spill it all, and run with it...and who's to say that hasn't happened already with the news source doing their due diligence as we speak to tie up any possible loose ends?

  • I still think (hope) something will happen. As far as when and how severe, I have no idea. I just can't believe that absolutely none of the stuff being thrown around about them is true. Everyone, not just Alabama fans, thinks they are dirty. I think the situation is so deep that it will take a couple of years before anything official comes out.

I'm ready and do talk about Alabama football all the time. However, there are some 40ish thread spots on the first page of the RT (not counting the pinned posts). I'd be amazed if you could give me 40 totally unique topics that were all related to Alabama football (I guarantee a lot could simply be combined). I enjoy talking about all things CFB and sports in general, too.

Well, lets see. Buster Brown Bowden goes on record and tells all about how "The Barn" was methodically cheating when he got there. Nothing happens. A professor goes on record to tell how the athletes are cheating like nobodies business and the local media acts like they never heard anything and guess what nothing really happens to the Barn. 4 former players go on record and tell how Auburn is paying players and coach was involved. Guess what, the local media acts like it never happened and so far nothing has happened. Oh, did I mention Cammy was made ineligible and eligible again in about 13 hrs or something like that. How many times have you seen that happen. You geting my drift here. The SEC and the NCAA both stood by and watched this unfold last season and did absolutely nothing to stop it. Everyone with at least 2 brain cells knows Auburn is cheating. Sheridan goes on record to say the NCAA knows the bagman and the witness , but can't do anything about it unless the witness goes on record. Anybody remember our case. They didn't need any fricking proof then. I am beginning to think Auburn has the NCAA and SEC by the nads somehow and they are only investigating to save face and will ultimately say we can't prove anything we found so I guess we'll just have to let them go. Oh well. Meanwhile the Barn is cheating as I write this and not even slowing down. And Scab and the rest of the local media are camped out in TTown trying their best to dig up something on the Tide. They can't even seem to find their way to Auburn these days. I guess because there is nothing to see there. That's my rant.

Very well said brm61. +1 for you sir.

What has perplexed me about this entire situation is that in the midst of a NCAA investigation the Barn doesn't appear to have even curtailed their cheating ways in the least. One would think they'd be running a little scared and want to fly beneath the radar screen. But not the Barn. They have lawyered-up and openly ignored legitmate Freedom of Information Act requests. They seem to be giving the NCAA, the college football world and the media the proverbial middle finger as they continue their duplicity, and openly flaunt the rules.

Why? How is this possible? How is it that they got the SEC to completely ignore it's own plainly worded rules with respect to Cam's ellgibility (or inelligibility)? And how is it they seem to have media outlets in a rear naked choke? How is it that nothing negative is ever reported about the Barn, yet the media is searching under every rock in T-town for something negative to report? None of this passes the smell test to me. Something is up, and I just can't put my finger on it.

We all know they are cheating. Everyone can see that, even people outside the state of Alabama see it. Everyone knows their title is tainted. Everyone knows that they should be stripped of their title, and that Cam should be stripped of his Heisman. But the Barn, for some mysterious reason, seem to be backed by some powerful, unseen force that allows them to openly cheat without any fear of repercussions. For that reason it would really not surprise me if they escape completely, or with some perfunctory slap on the wrist. The whole thing is baffling to me.

  • Bama58 made me think of something: A lot of people assert that there's a state bias in favor of AU in the media, SEC office, state government, etc etc etc. My question is why? We are the flagship and biggest university in Alabama. How can Auburn have more clout than we do in this state?

I don't care if you make a thread about AU, but don't do it asking for people who want to talk about Alabama football.
