I was a Senior at the Capstone sitting in the student section. Near the endzone where Tiffin kicked the winning FG.
The feeling in the stadium? It was over. We *ALL* thought it was over.
One drunk was coming up and down the aisle in the student section screaming "It ain't over, it ain't over!". We all told him to shut up and sit down. Recall back then it was a 50/50 split. The 50% that was arnge & blew was in jubilation. I'm not talking "happy". No not "happy". I'm talkin ***Sheer jubilation***. Cheerlearder flipping, crowd all cheering in unison. They had beaten Alabama.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Legion Field sat 80kIsh back then. Well, you have never seen 40,000 people so damn still in your life when the ball went through the uprights right in front of me. I'm assuming the liquid was a mixture of beer and other alchohol but we in the student section were all drenched after that....Of course there's more context but my fingers are tired. Maybe later...

Yesterday I watched that game. It is one in my collection of taped games. As I watched it I remembered bieng there, and the pride and excitement I felt when Tiffin made the winning kick. Yesterday that same feeling was still present as I rewatched it. Also,I had forgotten how much talent that team had. Cornelius Bennett, Al Bell,Bobby Humphrey, Mike Shula, Gene Gelks to name a few. Coach Perkins could recruit pretty well.
