Something feels right about Hugh Freeze

  • I cant explain it but for some reason I can sense something really good happening at Ole Miss. They might have found their version of Gene Stallings. He seems to fit that program really well and the kids they are recruiting are starting to speak in a unified voice. Its like they have talking points. I could be wrong but I think the black bears might have a really solid coach.

Im not predicting that they'll win a NC or anything, but I see them making a move if he stays there.

  • As long as he has Mrs. Tuey on speed dial for OL techniques, he's golden.

  • I think Ole Miss is the great wildcard in the West. Their talent level may be comparable to A&M, Arkansas, and Auburn, they're just developmentally a mess. They aren't going to compete for the division crown, but Freeze has the tools to upset a few good teams.

Exactly, they were a huge mess under Nutt. Freeze seems to have restored order to the program. I loved the release he sent out regarding Brassel's suspension.

  • Husky is being generous to OM. If their talent is comparable to Arkansas, Auburn or A&M, I completely missed it. Now,
maybe I did, but I don't see that yet. No offense to Husky, but I think he is being generous to OM. I don't think their
talent is comparable to MSU or Vandy, actually. But we will see. Again, no offense, just IMO. RTR!

I would put it on the same level as MSU and Vandy but not Arkansas, AU and A&M.

No offense taken, that was a polite response.

Of the four, from 2010 to 2013, they finished 4th, 2nd, 4th, and (are now) 2nd. TOS has them 2nd in 2009.

I agree it doesn't seem true, but that may be more of a developmental problem. Though not an indicator of superior (or even truly equivalent) talent, they average a 3rd place finish in that group. So, that's where I get that their talent level "may be comparable."

  • Freeze is a solid person. A strong man of faith. While other programs are led by pretenders who tout their religiosity for purposes of recruiting, Freeze goes about quietly and humbly living out his faith. He may not achieve much football success at Ole Miss (although I personally think he will), but he will make a difference in the lives of the men and families with whom he comes into contact.

  • i think ole miss had to go after a malzhan, leach type of guy. somebody to be different to neutralize the talent gap. they are like ms st and vandy and kentucky. they just are not going to be able to consistently beat the good teams of the SEC at their own game. have to go unconventional IMO

    I agree.
