What is Coach Spurrier's deal with making all these backhanded comments about Bama and Saban over the past few years? Is he butthurt because Saban demoted him on the all-time SEC coaches list or what is it?

Jeez, we're talking about Steve Spurrier, right? The same Steve Spurrier that gave us "Ray Goof", "You can't spell citrus without UT", "Peyton Manning came back for his senior year because he wanted to be the Citrus Bowl MVP for four years in a row", "At least the Vols achieved goal #5 on their list...they were Knox County champs", and other classics?
That's Steve Spurrier. If you think he's hilarious when he's making fun of teams we hate, you gotta be able to take it when he dishes it out at us. Don't take anything he says too seriously.

The real deal, is he sees himself inferior to CNS, because,,they both went and had nfl careers and came back,,but the difference is Nick,,continued success because he is a real coach,and spurrier knows this,it eats at him,,(jealous remarks)..face it stevie boy..you

The wisecracking and visor smashing are just entertainment to me. He was an offensive innovator in his time. He would flat criticize his players by name in press conferences . Not classy in my opinion. That always turned me off.

He turned down the Bama job right before Saban took it. We've all made one of those bad career decisions that haunts us for the rest of lives. Nick Saban did it when he left LSU. Spurrier is mad at himself.
