My issue with this would be that language and subjects that are tolerated on the Water Cooler aren't work friendly. If the same lattitude that is provided over there was to be extended to the "one board" there would be many of us who wouldn't browse from work, which is the only time many of us check the site.

I think the spirit of this thread is that all poster get treated equally. Some really good (historically good) threads wash out to the cooler cause they are OT. Yet one other remains. This idea ( the OP's) would let all topics co-exist together. and the user be able to filter (much like you can with the ignore feature or follow poster feature) by topic.

I read on the first page about your thread being attacked, I'd guess that would go away if others could post OT threads. I don't know that, but I'd assume.
