Get rid of the water cooler.
Instead, when someone creates a post, he checks the topic box similar to the VIP box now. Examples of topics would be Alabama football, basketball, other college football, Off topic, etc.
When someone visits the round table, there should be a drop down menu at the top that allows you to view all topics, just bama football, just off topic, etc. that way those of us who want to view the off topic threads dont have to go to the cooler in which no one ever visits and threads go to die.
This would allow the staff to just regroup a thread that was labelled wrong instead of moving it to the cooler. No more work for mods on duty.
This would streamline the site and be a great improvement IMO

We are going to keep things as they are until we release our new boards. They will be very feed driven and the ability to view posts traditionally (like current version) and like a twitter feed, with the ability to follow posters, tweeters, players, recruits, etc. And all will be mobile friendly.
You guys are on to something, but we have to build a different distribution engine before we can create the topics to follow.
As I have stated in numerous posts, after we finish our mb code rewrite later this year, we plan to devote around 70% of our entire development resources to message board and community products in the 2013.

We are building the ability to following what has been tagged. numerous possibilities and not just BOL, but for posts across all boards.
Be cool to see all user posts on a specific prospect for example.
We are just getting started with where we are taking this program. We are about 40% our initial blueprint for the site and hopes of being above 50% by December. And the next 10% is going to blow your mind!
