An easy solution to this would be for the BOL staff to create a Twitter account named "@BOLalert" or something similar. You can set up your twitter account to receive texts with every update from designated users. The BOL staff could use that account to only tweet commitments and other important news. Then everyone could set their twitter accounts to receive a text to their phone from that account. Now I know that's probably not the best long term solution but it would be a quick and dirty way to bring that feature now. You can also set the hours of the day that you'll receive the texts in case you didn't want them coming at odd hours of the night.
