Stat for the Grant haters....

  • Some of you do make very good points regarding your disdain for CAG but I think you will all find this interesting. CAG has now led Bama to its first back to back to back 20 win seasons since 1990-92, the Wimp years.

  • true but i just dont like the way he's not filling out his roster. other than that i fine with him. but i think he's got to have a top 10 class next year or we're going to be in trouble.

State is pretty well stocked next year so we should do fine. William Lee, Justin Coleman, Riley Norris, Demetrius Houston

I think there are very few CAG "haters". He is a great individual - a class act - and a solid role model. Most everyone on here really wants him to be a huge success for BAMA.

However he and his coaching staff have come up short in his time at BAMA. We all know it is true. Seriously, the main debate on this board is how much time should he be given and how to measure what his accomplishments are to date.

At $1.8 million - he must be the one that is totally accountable for the state of the basketball program.

  • As long as he is winning 20 games a year, he can stay as long as he wants. Mark my words. He will not be replaced if he is averaging 20 win seasons, and he probably should not be. Sure you want a different style, his is defense heavy. We forget about how defense wins championships (even in basketball). He is one Big away from having a good offensive team. He will hopefully get it sooner rather than later. I know it is not pretty, but many teams would love to have (3) 20 win seasons in a row! So, let's hope for the best in the tournament and support this team. Let's be thankful for what we "Do Have", and see how recruiting goes next year. We've got plenty of time to complain after the season is over.

20 wins is meaningless these days. Pointless stat, IMO.

In CWS's 20 win seasons, he won 3 SEC tournaments. In CAG's, he's won 1 game in the SEC tournament.

^^^This 100%. All legitimate Alabama fans want him to do well. Some of us just question his ability to get us to the next level as a program. I am one of those. I would love nothing more than to be wrong.

20 wins and still facing a challenge to make the NCAA tourney. That stat means nothing to me, the team is not coached well.......

This is why you have CAG haters on here. 20 wins........ so what if 1 or 2 of those are not in the SEC tourny or the big dance. I think we could do alot better for the money we pay Grant. JMO

Next year, when he's being courted by major programs, Bama fans will expect him to stay. I expect him to get the hell out of T'town on the first trip he can get. Alabama basketball fans are more delusional than Alabama football fans. After 3 twenty win seasons in a row, at a middle of the road B'ball program, why in the hell would any coach put up with what coach Grant is hearing from the Bama community?

Let's do what UAB did. Lets fire a coach thats winning, hire a coach that will go 15-15 and then convince ourselves that we are better off because the new coach is bringing more energy to the program after he loses half his games. All while watching the coach we fired, win a conference championship at his new job.

Mike Davis fired himself. You can not make the comments he made and act the way he did at UAB and not expect to get fired. Also, Mike can be a bit of a scumbucket. He was recruiting Alabama's players throughout his tenure at UAB among other things. Also, Mike Davis gutted the program so Haase is playing with a bunch of misfit toys. Also, Haase is doing at UAB exactly what you want Grant to do at Alabama, playing an exciting brand of basketball and he is selling his program. UAB is absolutely better off that they let Mike Davis go, 15 wins and all.

Also, Grant should expect criticism when he is making 2 million per year. He is a big boy, he can take it. He isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Next year he will have a better season because of inside depth and perimeter talent. There will be no built in excuses as next season he will have a full compliment of players, juniors and seniors throughout the program, a senior point guard, and depth in the paint. He needs to be in the top 25 throughout the year, in the top 3 of the SEC, and comfortably in the tournament. Otherwise, be needs to be on the hot seat.

how in the hell is 15-15 exciting? Would UAB be 15-15 with Mike Davis? Heck no.

What are the built in excuses this year for not having a full compliment of players in year 4?

Are you saying if he doesn't make the tournament comfortably next year he should just be on the hot seat? Personally I think the seat should be pretty hot right now.

UAB is 15-16. Again, if you think that UAB should have kept Mike Davis then you do not know what was really going on with him while he was there. Also, don't be so sure about UAB not being 15-16 under Mike Davis if he were still there. As I said earlier, Mike gutted the program.

Coach Haase plays an uptempo style of basketball that is extremely exciting to watch. His kids struggled to pick up his system early in the season. Once they got comfortable with it, they won 7 of their last 11 and are definitely trending upward.

  • I don't think it is the compliment of players as much as offensive X's and O's. He needs some help in regards to the offensive ball movement. Bobby Knight pointed this out many times during an earlier game in the year that he was on commentating.

Look at teams like Butler that have less talent but somehow know how to play well against the big boys! JMO.

I hope he turns out to be a great coach for us one day! RTR
