A move into the NFL is not considered a lateral move, it's generally considered a step up. Alabama pays its coaches very well, but the Eagles really went after him and I have to assume there's a raise involved. Also, consider this, his stock has probably never been higher and while Alabama's line is going to be pretty darn good next year I doubt it'll has highly regarded as this one.
I'm not sure what his ultimate goal is, but having college and pro experience will only help him get there.

I can't remember off the top of my head..... Have any other staff changes happened AFTER signing day like this? I don't mean literally the day after, but sometime before spring practice etc...

saban has been grooming chris samuels for the last 3 yrs for the offensive line coach, this makes the most sense. chris will be a instant star with recruits.

That's true but our talent level wasn't as good then either. Not saying it sucked but that should be factored in a bit as well.
