BTW, Caruso coaches Taylor Propst, a 2013 infielder from Hunstville who will play at UA.

That 1996 SEC Tournament was awesome and he was such a spark! One of my favorite childhood memories of Alabama baseball.

That was good stuff TR! Caruso was a great player and played on the greatest Bama baseball team ever. Those teams were fun to watch. That's awesome how Taft, Duncan, and Phillips had such an impact on his life that lead him to come to know Christ. Now, he's using his gift and expertise to share Christ with others. Keep them coming TR! rtr

Great, great piece, Travis! I'm sure you picked up on my bias for Caruso in one of the recent "Where are they now" installments. But, I think I am an even bigger fan of Joe now. Very well done and a very uplifting interview. Thanks!

I am friends with a few coaches here in Tampa that are apart of teams that play against Joe's travel team. They seem to always ask my opinion of him after they play or interact

Talked with Caruso about the possibility of an upgrade to the Joe and he said he's heard there are plans to do so. Exactly when, however, is another issue.
He also thinks Phillips will be a head coach at a mid-major in the near future if that's what he wants to do. Said Phillips loves being able to interact with young people on a daily basis.

Joe Caruso was seriously legit, I remember a game he took a pitch off the face, changed his jersey b/c it was covered in blood, then came out and finished the game. He was one of the reasons we were so good back then, they all had a don't quit attitude. Hopefully Andy and Dax can teach that to this young group. Cool to see Joe is still influencing players for the glory of God too, I've got a student that plays up in the East Cobb league, that is some serious baseball, hope nothing but the best for Caruso and his family.

I knew Joe when we were at Bama together. I was a Student Manager under Tank during the '96 and '97 seasons. Joe was a great guy and a very good baseball player.
