  • Yep or the guy he's trying to replace, Jarret Johnson, who was viewed as a bit of tweener coming out of UA. Went the league as as a DE but ended up standing up and playing LB. Johnson's entering his 10th season in the league.

  • I'll make another prediction. I think Brad Smelley will be a regular contributor to the Brown's offense. I know he is on the smaller size for a typical NFL TE, but last season he really came into his own. He finally became a good blocker and he was all but uncoverable by linebackers. He has great hands and decent speed. I look for him to be in the league for awhile.

  • Courtney Upshaw might have slipped to the second round because of his interview skills,..........he certainly play round one ball at UA..........thanks Travis.........RTR

I'm pulling for him like you, wester, but I don't think he makes the roster. He's another GREAT role player for the Tide, a la Dial last year and Reamer on defense a couple yrs back ... but just not the athlete you have to be on that level. Very much hope I'm wrong.

  • I can't argue with those picks, thanks Travis.

  • I think you see Upshaw in the first game of the season about 12-18 lbs lighter, and very motivated. He is a monster, and playing on a pro roster will keep a lot of attention off him (for a little while). I expect to see him turn heads right off the bat.

I think CU was taken in the early 2nd round b/c Baltimore thought they could still get him without staying in the 1st Round to do so.. teams moving up or staying in Round 1 for other players had guys higher on their needs-list than Upshaw.. Worked out perfectly for Baltimore.

Seattle should take a piece from the playbook of the Ravens. They could've traded that 15th pick to several other teams & still obtained Bruce Irvin later in the draft.
