TRips: Three questions for UA-MSU

Here are three questions for today's (5 p.m. CT/ESPN) SEC basketball game between Alabama (18-9, 7-6 in SEC) and Mississippi State (19-9, 6-7) at Coleman Coliseum.

we are going to make some unforeseen noise in both tournaments..

I hope this is finally the year we win both games in Madison Square. We've been there twice in recent memory but have came up short both times. Hopefully this is the year we break the barrier and win the thing.

Not sure if serious..... Something tells me you aren't though. This team could lock up a bid today to the big dance and the NIT should be out of our vocabulary for a year... Thank God. That tournament was/is hard to get excited for.

  • easy answers Post game:

#1) MSU is worse, Alabama is better. Alabama has MUCH more depth than MSU, and better coaching. The lack of TO use by CRS in the scoring runs were inexplicable...

#2) Lacey didn't respond well, and probably didn't need to be out there, but hard to see how he would do until put in a real game situation; however, the other guys responded VERY well...

#3) JMike probably had too many minutes. If Nick Jacobs had not had the phantom fouls called on him, I doubt we'd have seen JMike for that many minutes, but he's still more a liability than an asset BASED ON THIS ONE GAME, at this point, other than providing a bit more depth, which, as many have noted, we need come tourney time (SEC and NCAA)...

I think today is a blow out and my hunch meter says we are going to make some unforeseen noise in both tournaments...just have the feeling this team has finally turned the corner. I didn't expect the UT win and I didn't expect the road victory in Hogville...I'm a believer now.

    GREAT call, looking back, BM...

I felt pretty good about this game, but wasn't quite as confident given that I didn't really know what JMike would do to the team chemistry, and after the game I'm still left wondering, would we have beat them by 30 without him (and with FAIR foul calls on Jacobs), or only by 5-10 without him? Jury's still out...but I don't like the negative vibes I got tonight from him on and off the court.
