This is why the AP poll should be thrown out.

  • Also, here is Craig James' top 10 from his ballot below. Lets see if he stays true to it on the BCS countdown show tonight at 715 espn. They compare the real BCS standings with where Robert Smith, Herbie, and Craig James think the top 10 should be. It doesnt matter I know, but I wanna see how Craig explains why he dropped Boise 4 spots to #10. Not that I care where BSU is n the polls ever, I just want to hear his explanation. He makes me feel smarter all the time.

    Thrown out of what you ask? Thrown out completely..scrap it . I know it has no bearing on the BCS. Thats the main reason it should be thrown out! Why have it? AP poll gets too much pub and chatter for something that has zero bearing on the end result of anything. Its a measuring stick for the coaches to vote because they cant watch every game. If you think about it the coaches poll is the single dumbest poll out there. You know they cant watch any of these games on saturdays.

  • Not attempting to defend James but Boise is getting their just due ! Boys2men could beat ANYBODY on a given night but throw them in a real conference where they get beat up on a weekly basis and then make your argument. Teams should be penalized for a schedule that has an inferior opponent almost every week.

    They are penalized for it. Twice they have been unbeaten and haven't played for a championship and wont again this year.

  • Almost every week? If they play somebody it is the first week so thay can practice all spring and summer for them.I know you agree but I get tired of, they beat georgia, how about if they played say south carolina next then us or lsu how would they fair not so good Im betting.

    The AP can do whatever it wants. There are many polls out there, and they all have the same relevance as the AP, which is 0. The AP gets pub due to its long history and the fact it is the media, but it still means nothing.

    I get what youre saying bro and agree that BSU is not a top tier team. But if CJ isnt man enough to vote them where they needed to be earlier in the season and have them at #6 the whole time, then all the sudden vote em down to #10 knowing what their schedule was from day 1, then you are a wishy washy voter. If the team keeps winning and 2 teams below them lose that week, how can you justify dropping them 4 spots from your previous voting? Inconsistent voting is what CJ has done for years. Adjusting your voting is encouraged and all, but only adjusted from the preseason polls. This is week 9 for petes sake. Those adjustments shoulda been made a few weeks ago IMO. I hope this explains what I meant.

  • Coaches poll isn't much better. It should at least be changed to SID Poll, because most coaches don't take the time to mess will ranking teams, let alone keeping up with teams they'll never play

    Warr, I am just giving my opinion that the AP poll should be thrown out because of what we both agree on...its irrelevance. Its so irrelevant to the BCS that it gets attention when it shouldn't. It can be quite manipulative to Harris Poll voters, coaches poll voters, etc. Im not telling anyone in particular to throw it out. Im giving my opinion on my favorite message board on why I think it should be thrown out. Which is, last time I checked, one of the main reasons to be on a message board. I am more irrelevant than the AP poll so all in all its just ones mans opinion.

    I think you are reading far too much into it. What does "thrown out" mean to you? Because to me it means the following:
    cancel
    do away with
    eliminate
    abort
    eradicate
    destroy
    squash
    etc etc
    I hope this helps because I have a feeling you r only one who doesnt understand what I mean.
