Thoughts on game vs Florida tonight?

  • I agree what CAG said about being aggressive and playing with some emotion. We need to set the tone on defense and must absolutely hit our outside shots. (Chavez, releford, etc.). Hillman needs to give us significant minutes off the bench and we need to keep the turnovers to a minimum. Will Florida play 2-3 zone like auburn? If so, we need to swing the ball quickly and have green or Hines flash to the top of the key.

  • It depends how many air balls Davis launches tonight. We have to get some scoring from the perimeter to win. We can't count on a dunk every time down the floor. The optimist in me says we pull it out though. RTR!!!!

  • I'm not going to lie, Florida's guard play worries me some -- some of the quickest guys in the league on the floor for them, and we struggled with Ole Miss's quickness at the point position, especially in the second half. We have also gotta keep the gators off the offensive glass and hold them to one shot. It's an uphill climb, but we can do it

  • We haven't been able to work the ball inside since the Auburn game, and with the way we've been shooting it's going to be tough to win on the road. I think with the way our defense plays we will have a shot...

    Have Dr SKy, Theta Sigma, or jngulas made the move over here? I would love reading their incite on tonight's match up (plus any staff members feel free to weigh in on things, though I'm sure you are more concerned about football/recruiting/members right now)

  • If we stay out of foul trouble we will have a chance. Going to be a great atmoshere and I hope we play like we were a few weeks ago. Looking forward to it.

    we must hit some outside shots tonight! Every team is going to continue to fall back into the paint until we can force them out. We hit a few 3's then we have a shot this evening.

  • Priority #1 will be the same it's been all season, stay out of foul trouble. We can't lose our aggressiveness on defense due to fear of fouling out. Warren abused us in the final 4 minutes because we had so many who simply couldn't afford to be aggressive. That crippled our defense and attributed big time to the collapse.

    We have to box out. Chandler Parsons may be the best rebounder in the SEC. He's always in great position and gets a lot of long rebounds. We have to limit Florida's 2nd chance points. Ole Miss got way too many of those in the 1st half against us. Green and Mitchell are key here. Hines has been a force on the glass as of late and I'm not worried about him. He's an unsung hero on this team. Plays with a lot of emotion and is very physical around the rim.

    Perimeter shooting simply isn't there for us. Due to this, I hope we limit the amount of 3's we take. If at the end of the game we've only attempted 6 or less, I'd be happy.We can't have 1 and done trips due to a missed three. If the 3 is wide open and we have guys in position to rebound, take it. Otherwise work it inside.

    Releford and Steele can't settle for jump shots. They have to attack the rim and draw the defense to them. That will open things up for Mitchell and Green. Speaking of Green, his jump shot has been deadly the last few weeks. Hopefully he continues to hit those tonight.

    We can win this game if we keep our composure. Outside of the Auburn game, we've been a solid shooting team in the SEC. I don't think Florida will hold us under 40%. We'll hit 50% or better if we limit our 3-point attempts. If Releford gets out of this slump, we'll win. If not, Florida will win.

  • ESPN3 isn't showing it? That's odd since the game is on the ESPN family of networks. I don't think you can view it online.

  • I feel like if they use the 2-3 zone against us it may not be pretty unless we light it up from outside

  • I don't understand why ESPNU games aren't on ESPN3. Anyways, I think we will win if we can knock down outside shots here and there. We know the D wil be there. I am sure they will go zone the whole game. Our guards need to realize they can still try to penetrate against a zone. Does anybody else's text box act up on mobile?
