I love Coach Grant. He is passionate and makes the players play hard. I couldn't even watch Gottfried teams the last few years. We always led at half under him and lost by 15 or so. Win or lose, I love watching Bama play now. They actually play in your face defense. As a fan, I can't complain when I see the effort the team puts forth on the court each game.
JMO but I think he needs the opportunity to get rid of all the MG baggage and have his own recruits. I am not saying it is the case, but 1 or 2 bad attitudes can poison a BB team. RTR
I'm pretty pleased with Coach Grant. I think he's going the Saban route and would like to succeed some before showing up in a Ford commercial. Obviously our team has some issues. We know what those problems are. Coach Grant knows. Just need to see them resolved. I think with our Basketball program, we just need more time. We're not Kentucky. Nor is this football.
I really don't see how anyone can "love watching this team play". They have a 6 minute or so scoring drought every single game. We will have to agree to disagree on that aspect. The five game stretch between UK and Florida will determine the fate of this team. Lose any of those and I feel that we will be watching 68 other teams from our couch come March. If the attitude by our upperclassmen does not improve they should watch a young team prepare for the future the rest of this season, IMO.
Does he have an offensive philosophy...hard to tell & it seems to be getting worse.
He lives and dies by the press even when we were double and triple teaming at the
half court line and Vandy was breaking the press and throwing to the open man underneath...way too many times for my taste. Would have been better to set up our defense in the half court. I counted four times we were backdoored in the first half out of five possessions. How is this good coaching?
He may be a good person but frankly he has some weak spots in his coaching & some of his recruiting is questionable...players who would be suited for Conference USA but not SEC.
The jury is still out on him as a coach but I love him as a person.
I hope he can get some helop and this team can turn it around. Frankly I don't think we will be much above .500 in SEC play.
If we were UNC or Duke, I'b be worried. However, the team plays hard and it's fun to watch (for the most part). Which, after suffering with CMG, I'll take it.
I just want to walk you home.
I have thought all season that Bama will be better once Mitchell and Green are gone. Most people will say that they are our two best players but to me we have two teams. One has Mitchell and Green and everybody else is on the other team. The way Mitchell and Green carry themselves and their attitudes just doesn't fit with the other players. To me, when we get beat on D a lot it is either Green or Mitchell getting beat. They are lazy at times and I believe they hurt the team many times. Maybe not a popular opinion but I believe it's true.
