Poor bastards getting off the bus in Tuscaloosa will probably feel like those dumped on Omaha Beach - Unknown Vol's fan
It's obvious to me Saban sees an exceptional talent at a position of great importance. Getting punts blocked comes down to timing unless there's a bust in blocking. I doubt Saban would offer him unless he was a lock to play. Sounds like a useful scholly considering half the kids we sign will never see the field in meaningful plays.
Saban tries to put the best talent on the field at every position, we can all agree to that. Sure everyone else tries that but Saban actually accomplishes it most of the time. Our whole philosophy is ball control and defense. In that philosophy turnovers and blocked punts and such are unacceptable. If Saban sees an exceptional player that can aid in preventing those I guess he goes for them. Makes sense to me.
"We're modern-day gladiators, and that mental toughness is really important to have in a good team." Nick Saban
The problem I have with the criticism here is that the people criticizing the move have absolutely no idea what the situation is. And it’s not just “Saban has a plan” BS, there are plenty of situations where we have seen players play and though might not have perfect information we are not completely in the dark either and therefore can at least claim somewhat of an educated opinion. In this case, we have one senior long snapper who is pretty good and consistent but nobody in this thread that doesn’t work at the athletic department can tell me without looking who his back-up is or who the long snapper will be next year. Nobody even knows his name much less how good he is, nobody has ever seen him do anything. For all we know, he is terrible. I don’t know how you can opine on whether or not this is a good move without that information.

To me it's as simple as this,if Saban wants him then so do we! He is the very best in the recruiting business and has proven it year after year.Who are we to question him .
If Saban offers a snapper well you better believe we need one.
