I got the exact opposite impression from their press release. This young man didn't commit because he met a pretty girl, or they had a Chick Fil A on campus, or because his position coach wears his hat backwards and acts like one of the guys, or because he was promised playing time regardless if he earned it or not, or he was promised the first carry in the first carry of the year or any other stupid gimmick that has nothing to with developing a young man on or off the field in the right way. When I read his family's press release, it was clear that his family evaluated the entire program and selected Alabama for the right reasons.

Additionally, it is also clear that Maurice understands what a commitment means. They called off all visits thereafter when they found the right place. Furthermore, since they believe that they found the right place, they also made not clear that he will now be focusing on his senior year.

Lastly, and most importantly IMHO, these folks are faithful and humble people who appreciate the opportunity to play for a program like Alabama and a coach like Nick Saban. That is the ultimate compliment to the school we follow. It is the complete program that will contribute to Maurice's development in all areas of his life including his further development as Christian young man. I will be shocked if he doesn't quickly develop into a All SEC NFL first round type cornerback under Nick Saban. Sorry about the long post but it is refreshing to see a family handle this process the right way.
