  • Says to a reporter when asked when he thought his work on the range would give him more comfort he said he's been looking for, "well, I've got 2 wins in 4 months so I must be doing something right". The PGA does not recognize the Chevron world Challenge as an actual event. The event was hosted by Tiger and it only had 18 players in the field. He's getting pounded lately, and while I think its warranted to an extent, its sad that he's not complying to the fact he's won just 1 recognized worldwide event in 3 years.
I am not a TW hater, but I will admit that I have had mixed thoughts in regards to him, as a golf fan I mean. As a golf fan, of course I like to see the occasional Tiger charge up a leaderboard. No doubt that has a different feel, but lately I have been pulling for others to make those charges up the leaderboards. Not pulling against him per say, but wanting others to charge. I just find other players to be more interesting and fun to watch and find myself getting more and more disinterested in TW as a whole.

I think a lot of people have Tiger-fatigue.

The reporters question was one regarding Tigers comfort with his revised swing (partly due to knee injuries). I believe he answered the question honestly. Although much of it has been his own fault, not much positive has happened in Tigers life the last few years. I think he's simply trying to focus on the positives for a change. I'm certain he knows his own event wasn't official, but it was the first time he beat "any" field for two years and when you're use to dominating you'll make exceptions to your standards to get that feeling back and build on it. That's my take at least.

We all know he was trying to see any and all positives hes had lately. The Q and A we're talking about is the same either way we slice it.

  • The Chevron TW tournament was recognized by the OWGR, so it was somewhat legit. However, people seem to miss the most important aspect of his comeback -- his short game is awful relative to where it used to be. He is hitting the ball somewhat well(well enough to win in the past), but he is not making 8-15 footers for pars, birdies consistent enough. Also, his chipping has been a let down. With so much focus on the full swing, he has forgotten or lost his feel around the greens, and truly, that is what wins tournaments.

It's true that event is not a PGA tour event, but it is a significant enough event that world ranking points are distributed in association with it, and although there were only 18 players in the field, all 18 were ranked in the top 50 in the world. I would agree that Tiger is in a bit of denial at this point though.

That's cool man. I just dont think Tiger was trying to mislead the audience or was in denial that the first event wasnt official. The Golf Channel and ESPN spent hours talking about the first win and how good that must have felt in building some confidence. They didn't always specify that it was a non PGA event either, it was more about the "win". That's all I'm saying.

Yes, Totally agree with you. In his eyes it was indeed more about the fact he was the winner. Im a competitive guy too, winning is winning. My point was that it sounded like he was reminding the reporter that he won twice. The reporter knows he won his own hosted tournament, its just not considered a professional win on tour. He needs to enter more events like he said he would to gain confidence in some of the smaller fields, like the ones after any major. I'd like to see him in more events.

Not in the same league as a bad Tiger, but I once wrapped a 5 iron around a tree. And I have been known to chuck other clubs, lol.

Gotcha, this explanation makes more sense. Like yourself I'd like to see him enter more tournaments.

On a slightly different note, We all know what Tigers personal problems have been, but IMO his life just hasn't been the same since his father passed in 2006. Sharing winning moments with his dad was all he knew his entire life and to be quite honest, him knowing his fathers was up in age etc may have been the fire that helped Tiger dominate (for his dad) in his prime.

  • I want to see the dominance again, but I'm getting tired of waiting. I could care less what the dude does/has done in personal life and whether or not Chevron counts really doesn't matter. We all know which tourneys matter

The Chevron challenge didn't have a bad line up. Keegan Bradley, Zach Johnson, Bubba, Paul Casey, Jim Furyk, Kutcher
