Took a peek at the Notre Dame board

  • Wondering what they were thinking about a possible matchup with us. Long story short, they hate us. No mutual blueblood respect. If we make it to the game, I hope they do too.

  • My FIL hates Notre Dame to the core as an SC alum. He likes to wear his "F*CK RUDY" shirt as an undershirt to the game. He will be wearing it this Saturday as an undershirt when he attends his first Iron Bowl with me.

    Growing up, 2 games were ALWAYS on in my house every weekend. The Bama game and the Notre Dame game. It was always a great weekend when the domers lost.

    Growing up, 2 games were ALWAYS on in my house every weekend. The Bama game and the Notre Dame game. It was always a great weekend when the domers lost.

    If you were born before 1960, "growing up" you did not watch Bama and ND every weekend on TV. Unless your house overlooks BDS or Legion Field I only remember Bama being on the boob tube 2-3 times a year during the regular season in the 70's. To you youthful offenders, it was not wall to wall football then like it is now.

    BTW We owe ND a royal beatdown.

I really thought we had them that night. Bryant never beat ND so there's an added incentive to right the ship on the biggest of stages. Hating ND is in our DNA just like hating UTk or AU. gun

    With today's rules, we win that game. Bryant declined the roughing the kicker penalty on 4th and 20 when the punt was downed on the ND 1 yard line. In 1973, roughing the kicker wasn't an automatic first down, and it still would have been 4th and 5.

    Oh I agree totally. I was just pointing out that the guy who watched Bama and ND on TV every week growing up in the 60's and 70's either has a fuzzy memory or i grew up on a different planet.

    I was birthed Crimson in 1964 and I hate em as much as anyone. 1973 and 1974 are etched into my brain. I can still see Leroy Cook pressuring Clements as he throws to Weber for a game ending first down. Difference in the game was our kicker, who had been 58 for 58 in his career miss an extra point.

    I can see Richard Todd catching a halfback pass from Mike Stock and scoring and cutting a 13-3 game late to 13-9. I can see George Pugh diving to catch the two point conversion to make it 13-11. And I can see the onside kick failing.
