Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".

  • Tyrone Prothro will always be on my list right after DT. I feel so bad for the dude. He gave his all, most of the time carrying those Shula teams.

Loudest I have ever heard Bryant-Denny was when Prothro caught the 87 yarder from Croyle. I was sitting on the 50-yd line Row 2, on Alabama's sideline. That entire game was a great experience. I remember watching the whole crowd and players going crazy all game until that horrible play that cost that young man his career.

I will never forget that game. Will be a very sad day for me for a very long time.

  • Steve Busky, Darrin Mustin, Kelf Bailey, Brandon Avalos, and Jeremy Elder are on my list.

Why is Darren Mustin on that list with those?

Did he do something I forgot about? I thought he was a captain on the team under Saban in 2007.

Any list without Derrick Thomas #1 needs to be revisited.. That guy was BY FAR the best college player we have ever had... arguably of all time. Sure, you can name some old 5'10 175lb white dude that ran and threw in the 40's against other slow players.. But DT played in the modern era and was COMPLETELY unstoppable.

Seriously - if we had him on our team right now the score to games would be 100-0 EVERY TIME.. and I am not even kidding. He was that good.

    1988 season (only 11 games):

27 sacks (still national record) (52 for his career; still national record)
39 tackles for loss (still national record) (74 for his career; 2nd all time national record)
    45 QB hurries
    2 blocked kicks

Many will say this is the greatest single defensive season for anyone all time. Again this isn't counting the bowl games stats...he block 2 field goals in it and Bama won the game by 1 point.

Greatest season of all time for a defender and he placed........10th in the Heisman that year.

That is not a very well thought out statement. I agree that derrick is one of the greats, but he is in the same conversation as Hannah, Stephenson, Hudson, Namath, Newsome etc..All players that excelled at Bama but redefined football in the NFL.
