  • He is definitely raw on the offensive end. He also needs to add weight. He is extremely thin. Hopefully, he can improve in these two areas and roll with the Tide.

"Raw" was never used to describe Allen Murphy, John Drew, Buck Johnson or Ennis Whatley.

  • Stay away Kentucky, he is ours.

But I was basing that more on his stats. They are all raw but I'd rather him be going all Hakeem Olajuwon on high school players

  • When I watch Taylor, yes he is raw offensively and some take the word 'raw' as a negative but this kid has a ton of potential. His best basketball is still ahead of him. He's just scratching the surface of how good he can be. He does need to get stronger but that will come with time, especially when he hits a college weight program.

Watching Anthony Davis this season, there are guys that can affect the game without having to take a ton of shots. That's the kind of player that Jimmie Taylor can be. He's a game-changer defensively.

  • Thanks for the insight Chris, hope we can snag him.

  • I watched him play in Birmingham in the 3a final four and he didn't impress me, especially for a kid trying to get a scholarship from Kentucky and having offers from Georgetown and Vandy. His offensive game wasn't there at all. He only had 4 points and a few rebounds (i think 4 rebounds). The Madison Academy player guarding him was at least 5 or 6 inches shorter but was so much stronger that he could easily keep him contained and keep him out of the paint.
Defensively, while he did challenge shots and make it tough on opponents, 8th grader Josh Langford and 9th grader Kerryon Johnson were finishing in the paint on Taylor with somewhat ease. Don't get me wrong, Langford and Johnson are d-1 talents, (8th grader Langford should be a 5 star in his class and already has an offer from Bama and the barn and 9th grader Johnson should start getting looks) but Taylor should be on another level and he isn't. He played the bottom man of Greensboro's 1-3-1 zone and struggled to get out to the perimeter and challenge 3 point shots. Maybe it was just that one game, but that was the best talent he faced all year and he didn't get it done. The kid needs to improve tremendously if he's going be legit in college.

  • Remember he is 6'10"........and still growing.......CAG and staff can really help him with the ability.....and Alabama weight program with the dinner table will take care of the strenght side.............Thanks, Chris.......RTR

  • Not many legitimate shot blockers are scorers. Anthony Davis is a phenom for a reason and will be the #1 pick. If all he does is block shots and rebound I'll be cool with it. We need scorers around him. I'll be so glad when Bama can get two guys in the post to compliment each other. We should have had that this year in Green and the young freshman (forget his name right now), but....

Absolutely right and Taylor is a kid that can have a big effect on a game without scoring a point.
