***Tunsil update on the Georgia visit

  • crimsonlawyer said...

Tunsil said he asked for it. I'm not sure anyone would tell him no to that request. Also, it's not really any different than CNS riding Gators at his house with recruits. Just something to have fun and try to bond with them.

When our recruits ride Gators, it's on Saban's property typically the morning they meet with him before/after breakfast. It's part of the program for our official visits that they go hang at his house. They all do it if they want to.

I seriously doubt if a recruit called up Jeff Stoutland and said "Hey dawg I want to go up to Visionland and ride roller coasters with you this weekend" he'd make a special exception and leave the rest back at campus. But hell....maybe I'm wrong.

I'm not saying UGA is wrong for doing it, and it may very well get him to sign with them for all I know, I just think it's hilarious they're not all that structured.

I'm sure Tunsil found out a lot more about campus and how he fits into their system while John Theus was shooting paint at him and capturing his flag.

  • Anybody saying Georgia can't win championships is being ridiculous. They were very close to beating us and going to the national title game. I think we'd all agree they would have crushed nd as well.

It's also a myth that they don't put players in the league. They put tons of players in and several have gone on to have great careers.

I want the top players to come to Bama just as much as you guys, but to bash other top tier programs and say we're so far ahead of them is really too much homerism.

After breakfast the recruits ride and especially drive gators, shoot hoop in the driveway, play corn-hole, go down to the lake and feed with the fish, etc. The are anxious to do something active, especially after a passive day on Saturday. If you think it's all business you haven't been at Coach's house the night before with the parents. Far from it.

If the #1 OT called the week of his visit and said that's what HE wanted to do instead of a tour of the school, rest assured there would be 12 GA's dressed in camo in a Hummer to pick him up from The Capstone.

BTW the LT (Gates) for UGA only started several games there this year. They rotated him and the LG and brought a backup LT in for most of the season trying to find the best combo among that threesome. He played RG all 2011.

I don't know, man. This Saban team was widely thought of as Saban's weakest team (sans 2007) and this was Georgia's best shot. They had a very experienced defense, QB and an awesome schedule and they still didn't get it done. I think they blew their once in a lifetime shot last year. They won't ever have it as good as they did last year. Now I'm not disagreeing with you on the NFL thing. They do put many in the NFL. But the difference between UGA's shot at a NC and our shot at a NC year in and year out is very different. Richt just doesn't have the edge it takes to push them over the hump. He's proven that time and time again.

I'll agree with you there. They do seem to be frustratingly close (for their fans) but just can't quite get over the hump. Still, if I were a top recruit, I might think to myself that I could get them there.

I really believe that the way our team is ran is the best. But there are other ways to get there and you can't win them all. I'm just trying to look at it from a fair, unbiased (as hard as it is sometimes) point of view.

    +1 to you!

Some fans are just too close minded and think Bama is just the best at everything. Tunsil will make it to the pros regardless of where he goes. I agree that one program is tougher than the other, but to say Georgia's program is crap is just plain ignorance.

I think someone said recently that Richt has only had 1 OL drafted in the first round during his 12 year tenure at UGA. I'd be very curious to know how many 4 and 5 star OL he has signed in that period. Not a good ratio, especially compared with what CNS has done in 5 years at Alabama.

Well I'm sure some one is going to do the statistics, now that you brought that up, and let us know. But real good point if true

I agreed with most of it until the end. We are far ahead of them, and there is no question about it, IMO.
